Month: June 2013

Style Icon: Helena Bonham Carter

Okay so roughly a week ago I picked up the latest issue of Vogue July 2013 and this issue was based around the idea of being ageless, timeless and original. Much to my contentment this months issue had the wonderfully quirky Helena Bonham Carter on its cover! Now if you are unsure who this lady is, let me just give you a nudge in the right direction because she is one of the most prolific actresses and style icons of our time.

Starring in works such as Sweeney Todd (One of my favourite films!), Harry Potter and Les Miserables she is quite well known worldwide. But thinking of her style retrospectively it is clear to see that she has a very quirky and slightly strange sense of style (Not saying that’s a bad thing!) bright clothes and outrageously thrown together accessories and shoes seem to work well for Helena making her style sense unique and different but yet refreshing.

With that in mind, if you have a chance you should pick up the latest issue of Vogue to see her photoshoot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot as it really is quite something 🙂

Officially No Longer A First Year Fresher At University

So it has been a while since I have blogged a post in relation to University, so I thought this was a good place to start 🙂 I have officially ended my first year of Uni and I am now home for Summer! I’ll be heading back to University in September for my second year (Fingers crossed I get good first year results!)

So how was my first year overall? It was good & bad but it did teach me a lot, I learnt to cook, clean, DIY, how to survive without TV (no TV license sadly so had to survive by catch up TV on my laptop), how to ignore people that wern’t exactly nice and how to keep up with all the work.

So I thought that I would show you guys my old room in my halls, I lived in 13C and it was a super cute room, very cosy!

Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint (Pomegranate 319) By Barry M

I love painting my nails like many of the thousands of other girls and ladies out there in the world who do too and it is always a constant hard decision about which nail varnish to choose and what shade to wear!

With all different colours and effects coming out on the market everyday I see nail polish and varnish that I adore a lot and would love to have, but of course I cant buy every single one. So the other day I decided to buy Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Pomegranate 319 because I had heard such good reviews about Gelly Hi-Shine on other bloggers pages and such so I thought why not! 🙂

I love the colour, it is a vibrant pink which comes out looking dark but in natural light it looks very bright and to stop mine chipping I put two coats on because I find that stops nails chipping so easily when you do not have any glossy coats to apply.

I use to dislike Barry M a few years ago because I found their nail varnishes to be quite runny but in the last year I have brought quite a few as they’re becoming a quick favourite of mine! I certainly would wear this shade again as I think it is a great summery hint 🙂

T-Zone Deep Cleansing 4 in 1 Invigorating Cooling Scrub With Tea Tree, Menthol & Orange Extract

So I thought that I would try this T-Zone 4 in 1 scrub that I found out shopping, it was half price so I thought I’d give it a go. So how would I rate this product? I love it! It doesn’t make my troublesome skin automatically disappear when I need it too but it smells wonderful and if you love the smell of orange you’ll love this scrub!

The exfoliating beads are not rough like many other scrubs and the formula is not too thick nor too runny so it seems a good balance in consistency. It’s deep cleansing and naturally anti bacterial which is always a bonus but I know with many of these products that contain salicylic acid or tea tree that many people worry their skin will dry out which of course is a possibility and believe me its happened to me before as well but its all about finding a great product that contains these ingredients but which doesn’t dry your skin out, or what I do sometimes if I like a product but it dries my skin out is to moisturize afterwards with some hydrating cream! 🙂

Overall I do like this scrub as it smells nice and its refreshing as well once applied!

Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamin & Extracts Scrub (Avocado and Pomegranate)

Lately my skin has not been amazingly great, due to the fact I probably haven’t ate very good foods to promote healthy skin (That’ll all change though!) and I have felt a little stressed as well so my skin has suffered naturally promoting spots 😦 So when I was in Superdrug the other day I picked up Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamin & Extracts Scrub (Avocado and Pomegranate) in the hope that it would revive my skin a little!

This scrub apparently contains vitamins like vitamin E and contains avocado and pomegranate extracts which promote healthier skin with the aid of anti oxidants and exfoliating beads. The formula itself is quite thick in consistency but is not hard to rub in, I was super excited to use this product but sadly it has had no prevail to my skin, I have been using it for just about a week and have not seen much improvement, but perhaps I am hoping this is due to the fact I need to use it a little longer so I will keep on using it and see how it goes 🙂

The scrub itself smells delicious and I love the Clearasil brand as I believe in their promises and aims (Not sure why?! They just seem more reliable) but this product does not seem to be as powerful as their usual stuff which is kind of a down point. However overall I do still love this product regardless and will continue to give it a second chance 🙂

Keeping My WordPress

Hello Everyone,

Earlier today I was debating on whether to make the switch to Blogspot of to keep my WordPress, and after much decision making I have decided to stick with my WordPress as it is where my blogging first started and everything I have made out of myself I owe to this site, my blog and my faithful followers on here as well.

Lately I haven’t blogged in a very long time and that’s because I had writer’s block for a substantial amount of time and I just was not in the mood to blog, but I have got my spark back so expect some new and improved posts! I have also changed the background design of my blog which I hope you’ll all love 🙂

Please continue to follow me on Twitter, my Facebook blog page and also especially Bloglovin! and I will be sure to follow back and check out your blogs as well 🙂

Hope you are all well!

I am sure it’ll all get back to normal soon and I’ll be happily posting constantly again 🙂 Anyway happy June everyone! 😀

Inspirational Note To All Those Who Have Aspirations & Ambitions

So I just wanted to write a little post dedicated to those people who have aspirations, ambitions or dreams and are aiming to succeed at something specific in life. I never realized how many people are so determined to get into a specific occupation when they are older or have strong ambitious dreams until I got a blog on here and I got twitter (Probably last person to ever get it) & followed fellow bloggers some of whom are aiming to become professional photographers, journalists, fashion stylists and designers and it has inspired me to write this post.

I myself have a very ambitious dream and those of you who follow my blog will know what it is – to become a fashion journalist/editor. I know that this is a very tough occupation to get into and most of the time it isn’t paid which is fine when you’re just gathering experience but not when you need a a full time paying job. Luckily I am at the point in my life when I am just gathering as much experience as possible, currently I did write for 5 magazines but sadly I had to relieve myself of two of those magazines as I had gained enough experience from them and also it was time to move on and give myself some relief. Now I write for 3 magazines and I am a fashion ambassador for Fashion156.com as well, I am trying hard to gather as much fashion and writing related experience now before I get older to give me the best chances.

Back to the original base of the message, I have met some wonderful people on Twitter and my blog that have strong dreams and I really believe they have potential, I see people with the same determination and ambitious nature as myself and I just wanted to write this post to say one thing: KEEP GOING. I see future wannabe stylists and designers and photographers with some amazing unseen work and potential on their blogs and I really hope they know how well they are doing!

Sometimes I get lethargic but then I remember I need to work hard if I want a decent life in the future, good job, great house and car and stable lifestyle and a happy marriage and I will continue to work for all of that 🙂 I wish all of you ambitious and head strong people good luck and to keep at your dreams until they come true or come close enough 🙂
