holiday

Day 2 – My last holiday destination!

So day two of my little blog challenge I made was to describe the last holiday I went on! I love talking about holidays as much as I love going on them and I also love to read other bloggers describe their holidays as well so I thought this would be a good one to add to the challenge when I was thinking it up. So without further ado…

My last holiday destination was: Gran Canaria!

So lets start with the basics – where is it? if you didn’t already know then Gran Canaria is part of the canary islands which is a little off the coast of north west Africa but the island themselves are apart of Spain. So what was is like? Well it was like paradise! The weather when we got their was surprisingly lovely for January, we only had rain I think one night for the whole week we were there and the rest of the time it was hot but there was also a constant breeze which made it bearable.

It took a while to get to Gran Canaria by plane approx I think 4 hours and 30 minutes (it isn’t the longest flight I’ve ever been on but it was still tough!) I get unsettled and then I have to move around but I generally do enjoy flights, on the flight as well I was quite anxious because it was the first holiday we had booked all alone, done ourselves and paid for and it was just going to be the two of us in a different country so I was a bit anxious! but luckily all went to plan smoothly and once we arrived it was night time there, we got off the plane and found out coach to go to the resortย and off we went.

Booking into our resort was easy enough, we got our room card and got told all the essentials and we went to find our room in the night time darkness with all the other holiday makers following suit. Like I said it was dark so we didn’t see much of the resort that night for obvious reasons but in the morning we were just blown away by how beautiful it was and how comfortable we felt there – Plus we had a random cute kitten outside our apartment every night which was adorable!

We went all inclusive so we got breakfast, lunch and dinner and late night snacks and drinks all included which was lovely. Every night after dinner we tended to go watch the entertainment for the night and have a few drinks and such which was lovely and then throughout the week we did some other little exciting bits like finding the beach, exploring the city, playing mini golf and eating at a panorama sea view restaurant and seeing the famous sand dunes!

But that was mine and my partner’s last holiday all wrapped up for you, I hope you enjoyed it! I thought I would wrap it up now because I could just go on forever ๐Ÿ™‚

So I hope you’ll be around for tomorrows post on day 3 which is 5 things I dislike!

15 Day Blog Challenge!

So it’s been a little while since I last blogged and the last post I had was an opinion based poll to find out which posts are most interesting to all you lovely followers and also which subjects I should post more often on! I thought that I would make a little 15 day blog challenge for my blog because I prefer to make my own and I quite enjoy being creative with it anyway. The main reason I did only 15 days is down to the fact that when I made my 30 day photo challenge I found it immensely hard to post everyday on time and dropped behind now and then cause I just got busy with coursework etc. So I am hoping this one will go better! ๐Ÿ™‚ (Fingers crossed!)

You can join in or use this photo for your own blog if you wish just let me know! ๐Ÿ™‚ I shall be starting tomorrow! x

Uni, fashion journalism & blogging!

Hello, Bonjour, Konnichiwa, nว hวŽo, Guten Tag, Hallo!ย

So I have been gone a long time and haven’t posted in a while, however I am back and I am hoping that this summer I will get time to blog quite a bit so fingers crossed! Since I haven’t blogged in a while, I think you all deserve a reasonable explanation and that is because last month I had an incredibly difficult amount of university work due in the same week and it meant a lot of hours staying up till the morning, barely eating and being overly tired ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Luckily however now I have finished my university work and my second year at university and I am home for summer!

Before I broke up for summer I was planning on doing quite a lot of things this year and I am still hoping to do them at some point like first aid and learning to drive but something which I have been thinking about more lately is my old dream of becoming a fashion journalist. For those of you who were with me from the beginning, you’ll remember I wanted to be a fashion journalist and I put all my time and effort into juggling my university work and writing for various magazines, in total I wrote over 30 articles published both online and in print format so that was successful for me however eventually it all got a bit much and I couldn’t juggle the two much longer, so I gave up writing for magazines and at this point I was writing for at least 6 or 7 different upcoming or amateur magazines so it was a lot to give up after working so hard on it but it had to be done. After a long long long break of not writing, lately I have been looking into getting back into the fashion world! I want to write articles again, so I went and started writing for some of the ones I use to write for but now I am looking into other areas of fashion as well which might be interesting like photography and styling (I don’t know if I’d be any good but that’s why you learn and try!).

I’m not completely sure which direction I want to go into for my future career but there is three different industries I am thinking about which is fashion, teaching or health care and I have routes planned for all of them – so we will all have to wait and see what next year holds ๐Ÿ™‚

Other than that, I’ve been worrying a lot about various things like finances and health, but I am still smiling so that’s good! ๐Ÿ™‚

Well I hope you’re all well and I am back now!

Well I thought I would do a list of 8 random things I love, some might even be the same as you! ๐Ÿ™‚

5 things I want to buy…

So I haven’t blogged in a little while and that’s because I’ve not been feeling so well lately but luckily I went to the doctors and I should be feeling much better soon! I have a ton of blog posts to write and I am trying to squish them all out so you all don’t get to bored of me (I hope you already haven’t haha) If you’ve been tagging along on my blog you’ll know I attempted the 30 day photo challenge, sadly I flopped that because I only managed to get to day 19! (Sorry!) However I’m on the look out for other lists/challenges and such to try so if you have any suggestions pass them my way! ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway so I thought I would do a little post about 5 things I want to buy when I have enough money because I am always adding stuff to my mental list in my head! So lets begin…

  1. Running shoes – This is the constant excuse I use for not doing exercise, the lack of proper footwear to do such strenuous activities! I do actually want to get a pair though, running in converse isn’t fun nor comfortable.

  2. BooTea Tea – A ‘teatox’, I’m not usually one for these sort of products as I rarely believe in them however after a good duration reading their website and also looking at other girls results on twitter, I’m going to give it a go just purely because I am trying to be more healthier from this point onward. (Google them if you’ve never heard of them, it’s worth it!)

  3. Soap & Gloryโ„ข Thick & Fast Flash Extensions Mascara High Definition Collagen Coat – I was looking for a long time for a new mascara, I like to keep my make up natural but I like my eyes to stand out and I don’t really use liquid eyeliner that much so I like to choose a mascara that gives me lots of definition and ‘oomph’ shall we say.

  4. Ritual Fortune Scrub – I got my first taste of the Ritual products from a magazine a while back (Perhaps GLAMOUR? Can’t remember!) and I tried the Ritual Fortune Scrub, now when I got my sample with the magazine I was surprised it was a full blown big bottle not the tiny little itty bitty samples you usually get so I was excited and hopeful that I liked this product because I had a ton of it in this sample. IT SMELLS LIKE PARADISE! literally, I feel like I’m on holiday in an exotic paradise when I use this! I usually don’t rate shower gels or scrubs because I’m never that impressed but this one is different! If you’ve tried it you’ll agree where I’m coming from and if you haven’t then you can buy it online quite cheap I believe ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Eyebrow threading – Okay so I have something to admit, I shaved off one eyebrow BY ACCIDENT! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ You’d think I’d know better, but was totally accidental (I bet you’re all laughing now) So I lost my tweezers and as a student I couldn’t afford to have my eyebrows threaded/waxed again for a while so I quickly used a razor to try and get rid of the bottom hairs and the razor caught the rest of my eyebrow in the process! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ (If you weren’t laughing earlier bet you are now) So for a while I’ve been using an eyebrow pencil and you can’t see that it was shaved off viciously but now they’re kinda grown back (HOORAY!!!) so soon I shall pay for my eyebrows to be threaded ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s my 5 things I need to buy when I have the money, I hope you enjoyed it! Comment/like/subscribe/Tweet if you like lovelies! ๐Ÿ™‚

30 Day Photo Challenge – DAY 9 THE NIGHT

So yesterday was day 9 of my 30 day photo challenge and I found it quite hard to get the right shot, eventually I ended up with this one! I took it outside my house and have only just got round to uploading it so apologies ๐Ÿ™‚

I personally quite like the night time & darkness it seems peaceful and innocent however I have times when I really dislike the darkness and I end up getting scared haha but I think we all get like that now and then! ๐Ÿ™‚

EYEBROWS – Waxing or Threading?

So this is a post I talked about when I first started blogging back last year and I am coming back to it because I have a different view on it now, back last year in my post I actually contemplated whether waxing or threading was better having only ever threaded my eyebrows (Terrible judgement I know!) and I went on what others had told me about waxing.

Now it is safe to say I have tried and tested both out, after being frightfully scared of waxing my eyebrows I finally bit the biscuit and had Benefit wax my brows for me for the first time before I was set to go on holiday. Now I have had my eyebrows threaded since I started to become to lazy to tweeze them (Who wants that long enduring pain and arm ache?) and have been having them threaded for at least 3 years now if not more, however Benefit were doing a tint and wax for ยฃ18 so I decided to go for that as my holiday was a day away and I wanted some well shaped brows to accompany me.

So you are all wondering, how did it go right?…

Well I was nervous, I didn’t have much leg room and there was two other floor staff watching the woman wax my eyebrows because they were not as busy when I went in so at first it was awkward. Once I was settled in properly and no one else was watching (The bystanders just wandered off)ย I was more relaxed & happy, the wax itself wasn’t too hot and the actual procedure of ripping the wax strips off my eyebrows was not to bad! It hurt for like 3 seconds and then it was over (Relief!)ย

Now you are all asking threading or waxing?….

Well threading is a longer procedure sometimes, it is painful to many people but to some it is relatively painless just remember you have to sit in a chair for roughly 5+ minutes without fidgeting otherwise you may accidentally lose an eyebrow! ย It does however look lovely afterwards and up keep is a little easier as the hairs do not grow back so quickly and it’s always relatively cheap!

Waxing is a little painful but in my opinion not more painful than threading. It also looks lovely afterwards but waxing is always a little more expensive than threading because of the equipment used, also waxing can sometimes be a little harsher on sensitive skin because the wax has direct skin contact.

Comment and let me know your preferred method! ๐Ÿ™‚

I went on holiday!

In January I went on holiday to Gran Canaria with my partner, although me and my partner have been together for ages it was our first time going abroad together and that was mainly because we are students and the bank balance is not always smiling upon us!

Gran Canaria is part of the Canary Islands, the weather according to my handy guide book told me that it would be nothing less than 20 degrees which I was happy enough with considering that England is always most of the time raining anyway. So once we had picked Gran Canaria we had to book all our tickets and such which was left down to me, bearing in mind I am not only clumsy but forgetful I was a constantly worried the whole way there that I forgot something or booked it wrong! Thankfully that wasn’t the case and I can say I successfully can book a holiday without messing up the details – Woohoo! ๐Ÿ™‚

The holiday itself was amazing, we got to see and do a lot! (I even held two parrots! ;)) we went to San Agustin and the beach and the surroundings were lovely, our resort had a massive pool and crazy slides so the child in me came out and I couldn’t resist going down them even with a full face of make up!

But overall it was brilliant, if you ever get a chance to go then do! Here’s some holiday snaps below…

My Journey To Becoming A Fashion Journalist, My Summer & Lots of updates!

Hey Everyone!

So as you know I have been away for quite some time now and that is because I have had a looooong blogging break, I think one is needed every now and then when things just get too much. Sometimes trying to balance University, writing articles for various magazines and other stuff gets a little hectic! But long story short I have returned and I hope to bring you some brilliant posts which you’ll enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚ I will be posting regularly but not thousands of articles each day as I have said I have university to think of as I am now in my second year and I want to do well as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Over the summer I spent my time at home with my family and partner making the most of the sun, I brought a swimming pool and used it once (Stupid rain!) , got another tattoo, I went to London and went sightseeing, stayed up all night playing Batman Arkham Asylum, went to watch Wolverine at the cinema ย and moved into our new apartment for our second year at university as well just to name a few little things I did. I hope your summers went well as well! ๐Ÿ™‚

So as most of you who follow me on my journey to become a fashion journalist, I am doing well in that respect as I have a lot of writing experience now and my work is published online and in print (Two pictures below of printed articles) in various magazines and one day I hope to make it to Vogue! Or that is the plan at least ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well good bye for now and I shall be posting soon!

Saturday Blogger Interviews – Tara Joy

Name: Tara Joy

Location: Florida

Age: 19

What sort of things do you blog about most: I mostly blog about product reviews, outfit posts, and some personal stuff here and there. It’s a big combination of anything and everything I feel like talking about.
Name three words to describe your blog: Relaxed, chatty, and of course, bow-filled.
When did you first start blogging: I first started blogging in May of 2012.
Why did you begin to blog: I started blogging because I needed someone to chat with about clothes, makeup, and skincare. I was definitely talking off my beau’s ear and there was only so much talk about different lipstick finishes he could handle. It was a fun idea I had toyed around with and I’m so glad I did it.
Whatโ€™s one blogging tip that you would share with other potential bloggers: Don’t pay attention to the numbers. The #1 thing I couldn’t care less about is how many people follow or read what I have to say. Of course, without followers there isn’t a lot of interaction, but I don’t understand the big deal. I loved my blog at 3 followers and I still loved my blog the same at 300 followers. If you’re doing it for the numbers maybe that’s the wrong reason to.
Do you see yourself still blogging in three/five years time: Absolutely. It’s something that is more than a hobby to me. It makes me feel really connected to my girly side. I love being able to talk to people about the things that make me happy and blogging is one great way to do it.
Whatโ€™s one of the best things about being a blogger: I just love the fact that we are all into talking about the same things. It’s so nice to be able to look to tons of awesome people for opinions on anything and everything you could possibly imagine. It’s a cool thing.
Has blogging helped you significantly in any other way: Blogging has helped me stay glued to the camera. I grew up wanting to be a photographer and to go to art school. Even though I’m not in art school, I like having reasons to get behind the camera and be artistic.
Name one thing that inspires you: My friends are a huge inspiration to me. Honestly, they’re all so fun loving and goofy. All of us have very different distinct senses of style and I love to mix up my own style with some add ins of theirs like graphic tees and trainers.
Share one of your favourite quotes: “Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” – Earl Nightingale
