Nearly blonde! A cautionary tale of attempting to go blonde…

For a long time I had been trying to decide whether I wanted to be blonde or have pastel pink hair or do all sorts of jazzy stuff with my locks, it is a fact that I can’t leave my hair alone for a long period of time cause I just get bored!

(Warning – It’s rather a long post but it does have some cute gifs!)

Image
(Source)

So from the top lets begin! I have brown hair (there are probably a billion shades of brown hair and I could try and find my shade but it’ll take to long so let’s just go with brown for now) and I decided on a whim that I wanted my hair to be lighter for summer and I was thinking of pastel pink or maybe trying blonde out. I had spent days and days online reading reviews of bleaching kits, highlighting kits, dyes, toners, you name it I read a post on it! But I finally decided to go to blonde or at least try, so I went and brought the much raved about BLEACH London total bleaching kit and I brought two because apparently the mixture in one box was¬†a small proportion and wouldn’t cover all my hair¬†as other bloggers had stated in the reviews I read so I followed the advice that I’d most likely need two boxes.¬†I had to then make the choice of what shade of blonde I wanted to be and I eventually decided I wanted to be a golden blonde or a little darker than platinum so I also brought the Jerome Russell BBlonde Champagne blonde toner as well!

Image

So onto the main event! I bleached my hair which is one of the most hardest tasks ever even with an extra pair of hands, luckily my partner was on hand to help me out but nevertheless it was a hard task. After bleaching my hair my head was stinging and I had a while to kill while the bleach was doing its thing, after I washed it out I saw that it was gingery blonde so I put in the toner following the instructions and waited for that to do its business too.

Washing out the toner I was super excited to see my lovely blonde hair BUT to my horror it was blonde on top and gingery blonde towards the bottom, it wasn’t a big deal that it was two shades but it was mighty obvious when I stepped outside in the light and it looked ghastly! (It was like platinum white, sunshine yellow + tangerine orange with a bit of browny blonde thrown it – what a lovely mixture right?)

Image
(Source)

In the end I was thinking of buying more toner to make it one shade but this was becoming a very expensive¬†endeavour and I had been missing my brown hair a lot so I decided to dye my hair brown once again and¬†luckily I had a ‘golden brown’ hair dye at hand at home and chucked that on today and it came out a nice light browny colour which is great! But it has made me realise not to attempt this again and if I do then do it professionally at least, but for those of you wondering about the condition of my hair it is perfectly conditioned and healthy still! ūüôā

As for the products I used I’ll add a mini bit in about them as I did want this to be¬†a normal post not a review but the BLEACH London total bleaching kit seems to be over hyped in my opinion, it’s just like any other bleach in the sense that it does smell, it does sting and it does dry out your hair despite the reviews I read where others said it didn’t the only positive really is that it is a little cheaper and the box is quite snazzy however I also got within my¬†BLEACH London kit a conditioning reincarnation hair mask tube which you can buy separate¬†anyway and this is wonderful for your hair if you’ve dyed it – definitely worth purchasing!

On the other hand the Jerome Russell BBlonde Champagne toner did its job to an extent, it did remove brassy tones and gingery yellow bits but not all of it as well as this it is a very darkish blonde so if you’re looking for a light blonde or platinum I wouldn’t recommend this one specifically.

Well anyway that is that and I hope you enjoyed reading this little tale and had a good laugh or it helped you in anyway! ūüôā

6 things I wont miss about university this summer

Okay so we are all excited that summer is upon us right? We are all hoping it’s going to be a ‘hot’ summer, but what us lot in England tend to strive for is a little bit of sunshine that lasts at least longer than an hour! We don’t often get amazing weather in England and when we do it’s sun glasses and ice creams all round and it usually only lasts for one day but oh well! So if you’re a student like me you’ll be coming close to ending your first/second or maybe even third year in university and looking so forward to the summer ahead, am I right? On that note, I thought I would do a post on 5 things I wont miss about university this summer when I’m at home! ūüôā

  1. Getting up at 9am for a lecture or seminar and being to tired to even open my eyes.

  2. Not having any food in the house and mentally making note of the edible items I wish I had in my fridge or cupboards.

  3. The mountains of coursework, assignments and deadlines!

  4. Carrying tons of library books home from the library.

  5. Having to decide between buying toilet roll or chocolate¬†when I only have enough left for one option. (Don’t worry it’ll always be the toilet roll! haha)

  6. Trying to get on an already overcrowded bus to get to uni on time and hoping I won’t be the one the driver leaves behind because the bus is to it’s maximum capacity.

“Why, Hello Old Sport!” – Great Gatsby Flapper Dresses

‚ÄúI hope she’ll be a fool — that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.‚ÄĚ – Daisy Buchanan, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Great Gatsby Flapper Dress
So if you haven’t heard about ‘The Great Gatsby’ by now I am not sure where you’ve been! but don’t worry you can just Google it to catch up of course. Anyway I thought that I would do another Great Gatsby style related post, if you have been with me on my blogging journey from the start you’ll know that I did a post similar to this one about flapper dresses this time¬†last year, but now more people are aware of the film and book I thought it would be good to do a bit of ground cover and go over it again!
There is something so nostalgically mystical about the 1920’s, it was a new era for everyone especially the ladies! who had come out of their Victorian shell and started to become more outgoing and independent! These ladies were fearless as it would seem, their make up was flawless and energetic and the icon of the ‘flapper girl’ came into action.
Flapper dresses were a massive hit, they were partially over the top, glitzy and extravagant. These dresses were a thing of the past until the emergence of ‘The Great Gatsby’ which revived the admiration and adoration for these loose fitting and stylish dresses.

Over 500 followers!

So I wanted to do a little post to say a BIG BIG thank you to all my followers! I just spent the last couple of minutes adding up my followers on Bloglovin &¬†WordPress and I now have over 500 followers which is brilliant because I never assumed my blog would get this far, so it’s lovely to know there are people out there who love to read what I have to say or like what I just babble on about!

I started my blog just over a year ago now as my blog hit it’s 1st birthday at the end of March and I am so happy that I took the plunge to start blogging because it really is something I enjoy. I was never sure on whether to start blogging as I am a very shy person and pretty much as introverted as an introvert can get! But blogging has helped me in many ways and I have met some wonderful bloggers along the way ūüôā

I shall be doing a giveaway towards the end of the month (April) and I hope that you’ll all be interested in taking part! It’ll be my very first giveaway and I am hoping to make it really cool so stay tuned.

Once again thank you to all my lovely followers! ūüôā

Argan Dew Replenishing Hair Mask & Miraculous Argan Oil Samples review*

So the lovely Marine over at Argan Dew¬†emailed and said I could review some of their Argan Dew samples! I naturally was super happy about this because I love trying new things on my hair, it really has been through the works with bleaching and dying etc and a little tender loving care wouldn’t go a miss right now so I was happy to review the samples naturally! ūüôā I had heard a lot of good things about Argan oil originally and I have always been keen to give it a go!

I got sent a little package and inside was some samples of Argan Dew Replenishing Hair Mask and some samples of the Argan Dew Miraculous Argan Oil. Now firstly the Argan Dew Replenishing Hair Mask states that it will restore your hair’s natural beauty and health whilst the Argan Dew Miraculous Argan Oil Daily Hair Treatment says on the sample packet that it will protect and restore your hair’s natural shine and vitality – all things my poor hair needs right now!

Overall the samples were a pleasure to use, they smelt AMAZING! and were not thick or greasy at all which is something that is important to me when I use any sort of hair treatment. I have nearly ran out of the samples as I used them very frequently because I did notice a difference in my hair, it looked and felt much more stronger and silkier which was great!

A big thank you to Marine and the people over at Argan Dew for the quality samples! Take a look at their website or social networks if you want to know more!

Manuka Doctor Purified Bee Venom & Manuka Honey Skincare Review!*

So the lovely people over at¬†Manuka Doctor¬†were kind enough to send me some samples of some of their amazing products! I was super excited as I have had Manuka cream before but never with purified bee venom! (Sounds scary but it’s not!). I know that Manuka honey has a wide range of health benefits for skin and body and I love to try things that will make my skin feel healthier, so I waited patiently for the post to bring these exciting little samples for me to review and when I got them I was over the moon with joy! ūüôā

I got two little boxes with three sachets in one and three mini tubes in the other, the first box with sachets¬†contained¬†apiclear¬†Skin Treatment Serum, apinourish¬†Rejuvenating Face Mask and apirefine¬†Targeted Wrinkle Filler. The front of the little box states that the apiclear¬†Skin Treatment serum is clinically proven to significantly improve blemish prone skin in just three weeks whilst the apinourish¬†Rejuvenation Face Mask states purified bee venom is clinically proven to help skin’s elasticity and lastly the apirefine¬†Targeted Wrinkle Filler mentions that it is clinically proven to reduce wrinkles in just 30 minutes!¬†The¬†second little box was slightly different to the first as it contained three mini tubes, one Rejuvenating Face Mask, one Age-Defying Serum and one Restoring night cream all containing Manuka honey and purified bee venom.

Firstly I tried the apiclear¬†Skin Treatment Serum as I have had terrible skin in the past and a week or so ago I had a spot or two (Eeek!)¬†on top of that¬†my skin easily scars after spots¬†vanish¬†so I thought that this would be a good serum to try first. The little sachet lasted me a good few days and the serum is not at all greasy or sticky and dries relatively quickly which is excellent! It smells rather nice as well which is always a bonus when buying beauty products and creams. After a few days using the apiclear¬†Skin Treatment Serum I did notice that my there was something different about my skin, I wasn’t sure what it was to be exact but my skin just looked healthier and a lot better!

I went on to try the Rejuvenating Face Mask both in the tube form and the sachet, I loved this sample especially as the face mask was easily applicable to the face and was refreshing as well. I used the face mask nearly every day or so and eventually I did indeed run out of this one the quickest out of all the samples because I was using it often, but it did leave my skin feeling soft and also really clean – which I love when I buy face washes!

As for the Restoring Night Cream I used this frequently every night as well since the sample arrived in the post and it has been such a nice cream to put on before bed. I usually hate night creams, I hate how they’re mostly all greasy or smell strange but this one is different, it smells beautiful and it’s thin and applies easily and also dries quickly which are all factors I love about any sort of cream especially night cream! ūüôā

The Targeted Wrinkle Filler and Age Defying Serum are both products I have never tried before, I am young still (I’m 20) and wrinkles are something I don’t have to worry about for a while however judging by the quality and efficiency of the other samples I bet this would also be a great buy! But I will keep them and at some point in the future when I need them most I shall try them also.

On top of all this I am super happy that all these products do not harm the bee’s in anyway, shape or form as mentioned on their website here:¬†http://www.manukadoctor.co.uk/purified-bee-venom ūüôā

I’d love to thank Manuka Doctor for sending me some excellent samples and I am definitely going to be buying some of their skincare range in the future!

Sleeping beauty – Nightly Regime!

Sleeping beauty I am not, however I’d love to be! (not the sleeping forever part though, forget that!)

Every night I follow pretty much a small simple routine using some of my favourite products and I thought I would give you a little insight!

So let’s start with my skin, well luckily all through my teenage life I never really had spots and I rarely ever got them, then BAM! all my luck was gone and little mountains of grossness popped up on my face every so often and got me all stressed! (Still happens now but less often luckily…) well anyway I have tried ENDLESS and I mean ENDLESS products, probably wasted so much money and effort on using things that pledged to me that it would make my skin ravishing again sadly to no prevail.

So it’s very rare I come across any products and I’m like “wow it actually works!?” but these little bits I’m about to show you have gained a place of honour on my blog due to actually making a difference to my skin. So let’s get started…

Image

Clean and Clear Advantage Fast Action Daily Wash
Freederm Fast track spot gel
Organic Manuka Honey Rescue Cream
Tri-Peptox Collagen Overnight Recharge Cream

The daily wash leaves my face feeling fresh and cleaner, the freederm gel is my go to spot saviour and the Manuka honey rescue cream and collagen overnight cream are both so amazing at making my face soft and revitalized!

Is there anything you’d suggest or have I mentioned something you’ve used to? Comment/tweet/follow on bloglovin! ūüôā

The 90’s Kid Tag! The glorious year of 1993…

So I was looking at some other lovely bloggers blogs and I came across a 90’s kid tag on Lauren’s blog! If you’d love to take a look or go to her blog then you can check it out here –¬†http://keepcalmitsonlyablog.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/blast-from-past-calling-all-90s-kids.html

I was born in 1993 so I thought that I would give this a shot because it seemed cute and it’s always nice to be nostalgic now and then! So let’s get started…

1. Favourite Disney film?
The¬†Lion King, The Little Mermaid and probably¬†Snow White. (On the topic of films however, I did watch one with my dad when I was little called ‘The 10th Kingdom’ and it was one of my favourites for a while although it’s not¬†Disney¬†I thought I’d throw that in)

2. NSYNC or Backstreet Boys?
Neither personally, however my sister loved to listen to Backstreet Boys constantly.

3. Favourite candy/sweets?
I liked ring pops, nothing was more glamorous than them!

4. Weirdest fashion trend?
I spent most my childhood happily dressing in camouflage clothing as I loved it! (Bearing in mind I am the daughter of a ex-soldier) and I also remember I had a two piece set, which was long trousers and a crop top in a bright yellow colour (Hahaha!) But I also had a pair of silver glittery jelly heels!
5. Favourite music artist/band?
Spice Girls and S Club 7 for sure! (Personally my favourite song by S Club 7 was reach for the stars! hahah)
6. Favourite game? (board game, playground)
I had a favourite playground game, I can’t remember the name now but it was something to do with oranges!¬†
7. What would you watch on TV after school & Favourite TV shows?
Art Attack,Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Hey Arnold, Arthur, Rupert, Little Bear,The Queen’s Nose, Rosie and Jim, Bill and Ben just to name a few!¬†
8. Favourite book?
I read mostly Saddle Club, Roald Dahl and Jacqueline Wilson books. Although I did have a lot of pet related books because I would always nag my parents for an animal, any animal and in this desire I would end up buying lots of animal care related books.
9. Favourite clothing store?
I can’t remember!¬†
10. 90’s beauty memories?
Bright blue & green eye shadow, roll on body glitter, crimped hair and hair braids. I also liked to get the¬†children’s make up from the supermarkets, you know the kind that were in the toy area and smelled like plastic but¬†were in ravishing shades of dark pinks and purples!
11. Favourite McDonalds happy meal toy?
I can’t really remember the toys I got from McDonalds back then sadly but I do remember going to McDonalds with one of my older sister’s and her friends.

12. Favourite toy?
I collected tons and tons of Pokemon stuff, cards, toys everything you name it. I also loved barbies, I had a mermaid one that when you put her tail in water it changed different colours! I also had a Tamogotchi a little baby pink one in the shape of an egg ūüôā
So that’s my 90’s kid tag and if you were born in the 90’s why don’t you give it a go as well? Comment and let me know ūüôā
