Something that really intrigues me is people within the fashion industry who do not just follow suit with everyone else but decide to be different and those are the ones who want the bigger picture. Usually I am on Twitter looking for new bloggers, journalists and businesses to follow and sometimes I come across a person with an essence of entrepreneurial ambition that really stands out and I hope to be one of those people soon.
I love ambition, it keeps me motivated when it feels like nothing is going right and it also gives me a buzz to know I am appreciated for doing something or being apart of something big at the end of the day. I have seen a lot of bloggers who have bigger ambitions, ones who perhaps want to be authors, fashion designers, journalists, chefs and this is really something quite great to see that they are working towards there futures using social media as a platform as it’s is one of the easiest and most helpful tools you can use.
Ambition is a word thrown around a lot by all sorts of people and it can mean different things to certain people. To some ambition is to lose weight, to others it is to get that promotion but at the end of the day it all leaves us with the same feeling, the feeling of being invincible and head strong and that’s a great mind set to have with any aspect with your life. So if you are someone who has targets, goals or ambitions then I hope you will always carry them on and succeed 🙂
So the temperature has cranked itself way above the normal average for England and has made it perfect beach weather and what better way to shine with style at the beach than dressed in one of this summer’s favourite wardrobe trends – Nautical!
Looking like a sailor has never been so fun! In the past if you told somebody you wanted to look similar to that of a man that stays on a ship for long periods of time, you probably would’ve just got some weird looks and glances. But now thanks to marvelous world of fashion this vibrantly quirky reoccurring trend is making its debut once again!
Think anchors, ships, blazers with gold embellished buttons and stripes! Blue, red and white are the most commonly associated colour with the nautical trend and it’s such a great style to pull off because the colours are so complimenting of each other. This summer however all our favourite stores and retailers are quickly equipping nautical themed stock, there will be a mass of our favourite clothing pieces mixed with this quirky and fun style and will be sure to bring the sailor out of you!

Okay, so just a little note to all my followers! I am changing a few things about my blog and thought I would inform you about this 🙂
- Blogger interviews on a Saturday will still continue.
- I will not just solely be blogging about fashion and beauty but I will also be blogging about travel, books, music and other topics!
- There will be topic days where I will feature something specific as well as other content as well but one main topic for example music.
- I will still be doing reviews and samples of clothing and beauty as I am still a fashion blogger mainly 🙂
- At some point I will be changing the layout a little of my blog to make it a little more snazzy 😀
Well that’s all, hope you enjoy my blog and continue to follow and like 🙂
Okay so for a long time I stopped wearing foundation simply because I just couldn’t put up with trying to constantly find a shade that matched my skin tone, I am very pale and searching for the perfect foundation for me is a pain! If I buy the wrong one I can end up looking orange and I myself prefer the natural look and I go for liquid foundation because I find it more better personally for me, so I have always searched for a foundation that ticks all my boxes:
- Natural looking coverage
- Covers spots efficiently
- Covers dark under eye circles
- Not too thick
- Closest shade to my skin tone
- Not to expensive
So like many girls I find looking for foundation tiresome and something which I gave up on a few months back, I have only really been using cover sticks and light powder. But the other day I was in Boots and I decided to give this new foundation I saw a go, It’s called On The Spot Foundation by Seventeen and it apparently gives you clearer skin in 4 weeks!
Now sometimes when I get very under the weather or stressed like many I tend to get spots and I hate them, but this foundation apparently gives clearer skin in 4 weeks which was a definite selling point for me. Not to mention they did a very light fair pale colour which when I tested it, it matched my skin tone perfectly! – SUCCESS. It wasn’t thick and when I applied it, it rubbed in perfectly and gave me and all round clear and fresh complexion plus it was cheap in regards of pricing at only £5.
Also I managed to find probably the most effective mascara I have used in a long time! It is called Scandal Eyes By Rimmel and I love it. The brush is big and thick but not too large that it makes application hard. You don’t even need to use more than one mascara when using this as it gives lashes a big impact look and my eyelashes look super long (Mine are naturally tiny) so this is a recommended buy!
So as you may have realized I haven’t been posting as much as I usually do and that’s because I have had quite a hectic but positive week! For those of you that follow my blog for updates on my journey to become a fashion journalist, well I have some little updates for you! Firstly I am now writing for another two new magazines who have a large readership so that’s quite exciting, not to mention one of the magazines is also American which is a great way for me to expand my experience in journalism and magazines globally.
So now I write for 4 magazines, some on a weekly basis and others on a monthly basis which is fine by me as I love writing and the flexibility fits in great with my life! So my fashion and journalism experience is adding up now so I made a mini list so you can see what I have accomplished this month:
- Becoming a Fashion Ambassador for Fashion156.com
- Writing for another British based magazine
- Writing for an American based magazine
- I have done my first ever model photo shoot in 1960’s and 1980’s vintage clothing
- Completed lots of promotional exchanges with many online stores
Well moving on, I have finished my first year of University a week ago and traveled home for Summer break so I have been catching up with my family back in North London so I haven’t been posting much! But now I am starting to post more often, so bare with me guys! 🙂
I have been reading endless Vogue and ELLE magazines lately, I never use to buy them because they were quite pricey but now I am just starting to read them and I love the content. I also went into my local library and I found the March Issue of Vogue for 30p! So I brought that as it was a bargain.
Lately I haven’t blogged as much as I usually would because of various reasons one of which being the dreaded coursework and exam season! 😦 However I am trying to still blog at least once a day still to keep you all interested, so the other day as you may have seen my post I got offered an internship with a fashion magazine and website as their social media and blogging intern which I thought was great and accepted however a few days into it I realised ‘what am I doing?’ I want to be a fashion journalist not part of fashion media and marketing sector, so I sent a regretful email declining my internship probably one of the only people in the world to make that move but I knew I had to have a journalism or editorial internship to fulfill my needs and ambitions.
After that I got a happy email from Fashion156.com saying I was successful and I was now a Fashion Ambassador for them, which is super exciting! 🙂
With Summer just around the corner and my exams to come first I am a little stressed lately and a bit on edge about everything, I am really hoping that this Summer will be great and my exams go well as well but I have to admit I am looking forward to moving into our new apartment in July too!
Well that’s all for now guys 🙂 – Enjoy this photo of cute meerkat babies!
So I was thinking how much the media only really ever concentrates on Western style and fashion when in fact there are some amazingly beautiful cultural pieces from around the world that I think should be appreciated more and deserve the time to be on my post.
In many different countries there are special or religious pieces of clothing that have a significant meaning behind them and in some countries they dress in certain pieces of clothing as part of their cultural identity which I believe we should see more with regards to fashion instead of it just being Western dominated, so without further ado here is my little blog post on some beautiful cultural fashion I found on the internet 🙂 I found some of these great photo’s from a really lovely blog called http://universalbeauty.tumblr.com/ which I recommend taking a look at as well!
I love all these pieces of clothing featured in these photos, each item is special or beautiful in many ways and I love the colourful and pretty designs as well – Hope you like them tool! 🙂
Disclosure: This blog post was not meant to cause offense and I hope it hasn’t, it was purely made to spread appreciation of worldwide cultural fashion 🙂
Okay so I love nail art! Nothing is better than perfectly cute and pretty nails that stand out and are super colourful! Although I do not really do much nail art on my own nails I really appreciate and love looking online at all the different ideas and designs! I once learnt a really cool way to get marble nail art from a few different YouTube clips so I was thinking I may try and do it again and then write a blog post on the outcome with some pictures of course! 🙂 I wanted to share some of my favourite looking nail art that I found online with you guys as well, some of them make me jealous!
In the future I am thinking of keeping the idea of nail art appreciation for a monthly blog post where I will ask followers to send in some photos of theirs for me to put on the post, So watch this space 🙂 P.s. Also got offered a Social Media and Blogging Internship for a fashion website! eeeep! 🙂
