Manuka Doctor Purified Bee Venom & Manuka Honey Skincare Review!*

So the lovely people over at Manuka Doctor were kind enough to send me some samples of some of their amazing products! I was super excited as I have had Manuka cream before but never with purified bee venom! (Sounds scary but it’s not!). I know that Manuka honey has a wide range of health benefits for skin and body and I love to try things that will make my skin feel healthier, so I waited patiently for the post to bring these exciting little samples for me to review and when I got them I was over the moon with joy! 🙂

I got two little boxes with three sachets in one and three mini tubes in the other, the first box with sachets contained apiclear Skin Treatment Serum, apinourish Rejuvenating Face Mask and apirefine Targeted Wrinkle Filler. The front of the little box states that the apiclear Skin Treatment serum is clinically proven to significantly improve blemish prone skin in just three weeks whilst the apinourish Rejuvenation Face Mask states purified bee venom is clinically proven to help skin’s elasticity and lastly the apirefine Targeted Wrinkle Filler mentions that it is clinically proven to reduce wrinkles in just 30 minutes! The second little box was slightly different to the first as it contained three mini tubes, one Rejuvenating Face Mask, one Age-Defying Serum and one Restoring night cream all containing Manuka honey and purified bee venom.

Firstly I tried the apiclear Skin Treatment Serum as I have had terrible skin in the past and a week or so ago I had a spot or two (Eeek!) on top of that my skin easily scars after spots vanish so I thought that this would be a good serum to try first. The little sachet lasted me a good few days and the serum is not at all greasy or sticky and dries relatively quickly which is excellent! It smells rather nice as well which is always a bonus when buying beauty products and creams. After a few days using the apiclear Skin Treatment Serum I did notice that my there was something different about my skin, I wasn’t sure what it was to be exact but my skin just looked healthier and a lot better!

I went on to try the Rejuvenating Face Mask both in the tube form and the sachet, I loved this sample especially as the face mask was easily applicable to the face and was refreshing as well. I used the face mask nearly every day or so and eventually I did indeed run out of this one the quickest out of all the samples because I was using it often, but it did leave my skin feeling soft and also really clean – which I love when I buy face washes!

As for the Restoring Night Cream I used this frequently every night as well since the sample arrived in the post and it has been such a nice cream to put on before bed. I usually hate night creams, I hate how they’re mostly all greasy or smell strange but this one is different, it smells beautiful and it’s thin and applies easily and also dries quickly which are all factors I love about any sort of cream especially night cream! 🙂

The Targeted Wrinkle Filler and Age Defying Serum are both products I have never tried before, I am young still (I’m 20) and wrinkles are something I don’t have to worry about for a while however judging by the quality and efficiency of the other samples I bet this would also be a great buy! But I will keep them and at some point in the future when I need them most I shall try them also.

On top of all this I am super happy that all these products do not harm the bee’s in anyway, shape or form as mentioned on their website here: http://www.manukadoctor.co.uk/purified-bee-venom 🙂

I’d love to thank Manuka Doctor for sending me some excellent samples and I am definitely going to be buying some of their skincare range in the future!

Sleeping beauty – Nightly Regime!

Sleeping beauty I am not, however I’d love to be! (not the sleeping forever part though, forget that!)

Every night I follow pretty much a small simple routine using some of my favourite products and I thought I would give you a little insight!

So let’s start with my skin, well luckily all through my teenage life I never really had spots and I rarely ever got them, then BAM! all my luck was gone and little mountains of grossness popped up on my face every so often and got me all stressed! (Still happens now but less often luckily…) well anyway I have tried ENDLESS and I mean ENDLESS products, probably wasted so much money and effort on using things that pledged to me that it would make my skin ravishing again sadly to no prevail.

So it’s very rare I come across any products and I’m like “wow it actually works!?” but these little bits I’m about to show you have gained a place of honour on my blog due to actually making a difference to my skin. So let’s get started…

Image

Clean and Clear Advantage Fast Action Daily Wash
Freederm Fast track spot gel
Organic Manuka Honey Rescue Cream
Tri-Peptox Collagen Overnight Recharge Cream

The daily wash leaves my face feeling fresh and cleaner, the freederm gel is my go to spot saviour and the Manuka honey rescue cream and collagen overnight cream are both so amazing at making my face soft and revitalized!

Is there anything you’d suggest or have I mentioned something you’ve used to? Comment/tweet/follow on bloglovin! 🙂

30 Day Photo Challenge – DAY 14 HANDMADE

So I went looking for something I handmade around my flat because today is the keyword ‘Handmade’. I love to make things, I’d say I am creative but whether I am any good at it is another story! The reason I love making things is because I personally find it fun and relaxing, so I tend to spend my time doing some arty things when I am not overflowed with coursework or doing seminar reading for uni! 🙂

The handmade item I chose is something I did last Summer after a day spent in London, my partner knows I love sharks so brought me a 3D wooden shark model kit to construct from the natural history museum so I spent a whole afternoon fixing all the pieces together to make a 3D shark and then I painted it! 🙂

EYEBROWS – Waxing or Threading?

So this is a post I talked about when I first started blogging back last year and I am coming back to it because I have a different view on it now, back last year in my post I actually contemplated whether waxing or threading was better having only ever threaded my eyebrows (Terrible judgement I know!) and I went on what others had told me about waxing.

Now it is safe to say I have tried and tested both out, after being frightfully scared of waxing my eyebrows I finally bit the biscuit and had Benefit wax my brows for me for the first time before I was set to go on holiday. Now I have had my eyebrows threaded since I started to become to lazy to tweeze them (Who wants that long enduring pain and arm ache?) and have been having them threaded for at least 3 years now if not more, however Benefit were doing a tint and wax for £18 so I decided to go for that as my holiday was a day away and I wanted some well shaped brows to accompany me.

So you are all wondering, how did it go right?…

Well I was nervous, I didn’t have much leg room and there was two other floor staff watching the woman wax my eyebrows because they were not as busy when I went in so at first it was awkward. Once I was settled in properly and no one else was watching (The bystanders just wandered off) I was more relaxed & happy, the wax itself wasn’t too hot and the actual procedure of ripping the wax strips off my eyebrows was not to bad! It hurt for like 3 seconds and then it was over (Relief!)

Now you are all asking threading or waxing?….

Well threading is a longer procedure sometimes, it is painful to many people but to some it is relatively painless just remember you have to sit in a chair for roughly 5+ minutes without fidgeting otherwise you may accidentally lose an eyebrow!  It does however look lovely afterwards and up keep is a little easier as the hairs do not grow back so quickly and it’s always relatively cheap!

Waxing is a little painful but in my opinion not more painful than threading. It also looks lovely afterwards but waxing is always a little more expensive than threading because of the equipment used, also waxing can sometimes be a little harsher on sensitive skin because the wax has direct skin contact.

Comment and let me know your preferred method! 🙂

My 5 Most Favourite Shampoos you must try!

Okay so I never use to really care about my hair until a certain stage in my life when I really enjoyed styling and spending time on my hair looking nice. Now it is a constant regime and I need to always make sure I find some really good shampoos and conditioners to use on my hair, ones which will not make them greasy or to fine.
So I thought I would share my top 5 favourite shampoos I have tried and love still and see what you think!

  1. Aussie Colour Mate/Beach Mate/Miracle Moist
This brand has always allured me to it! If it wasn’t so expensive I would buy the whole range…I love this brand because all of the shampoos I have tried all smell so delightful and beautiful. Not only do these products by Aussie smell good the shampoos really work and they make my hair feel so much more clean and nicer afterwards as well as using quality ingredients!
  2. VO5 Plump It Up
Well if you saw my blog post about a week ago it was on the VO5 Plump Me Up shampoo I purchased. I love it because it feels like my hair actually has some volume to it (I have fine hair!) and its weightless as well meaning it doesn’t feel overly bulky or leave residue in your hair afterwards.
  3. Lee Stafford Poker Straight
Now this was one of the first ‘designer’ salon sort of shampoos I tried in my teenage years, the bottle was party pink and everything lured me towards it the description, the colour and definitely the smell! There’s many reasons why this is on my list, for starters it’s not as expensive as you may believe and it is reasonably cheap for a salon designer shampoo, secondly it smells amazing! and thirdly it makes your hair less frizzy – so a definite win!
  4. Herbal Essences Uplifting Volume
Like I said I have fine hair which can be a pain sometimes, however very rarely I come across a shampoo which actually does what it says and gives an uplifting weightless look, till I tried this one!
  5. Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil And Creamy Aloe
When I was at university I couldn’t afford the good stuff 😦 So after some looking around in some other beauty and hair shops I found this, it was different and I thought it would give my hair a boost and revitalize it a little! The formula is not too thick, smells good and cleans hair thoroughly not to mention it always made my hair soft as well which I loved! Also great if you want to try and grow your hair as well 🙂

Let me know what you think! 🙂

Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamin & Extracts Scrub (Avocado and Pomegranate)

Lately my skin has not been amazingly great, due to the fact I probably haven’t ate very good foods to promote healthy skin (That’ll all change though!) and I have felt a little stressed as well so my skin has suffered naturally promoting spots 😦 So when I was in Superdrug the other day I picked up Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamin & Extracts Scrub (Avocado and Pomegranate) in the hope that it would revive my skin a little!

This scrub apparently contains vitamins like vitamin E and contains avocado and pomegranate extracts which promote healthier skin with the aid of anti oxidants and exfoliating beads. The formula itself is quite thick in consistency but is not hard to rub in, I was super excited to use this product but sadly it has had no prevail to my skin, I have been using it for just about a week and have not seen much improvement, but perhaps I am hoping this is due to the fact I need to use it a little longer so I will keep on using it and see how it goes 🙂

The scrub itself smells delicious and I love the Clearasil brand as I believe in their promises and aims (Not sure why?! They just seem more reliable) but this product does not seem to be as powerful as their usual stuff which is kind of a down point. However overall I do still love this product regardless and will continue to give it a second chance 🙂

Five of my all time favourite meals!

I love food so much! I am a big foodie and appreciate food in all forms. So I decided to do a quick post about 5 of my favourite meals that I love so much and share them with my faithful followers 🙂

  1. Lasagna – There is nothing more better than a quality beef lasagna with loads of bechamel sauce on top and some garlic bread on the side! DELICIOUS 🙂
  2. Macaroni cheese – I love macaroni cheese, I’m a massive fan of cheese and therefore this meal is the one.
  3. Chilli Con Carne – This is my second favourite, I love the meat and kidney beans especially with plain white rice and all the spices I could possibly handle! As a student this is cheap and easy so I tend to eat it A LOT!
  4. Roast Dinner – Nothing better than a complete roast dinner with tasty stuffing, hot gravy, Yorkshire puddings and all the trimmings!
  5. Mash, Mince and gravy – Now this is a standard meal but it oh so tasty, I love mince with gravy and tons of home made mash potato, it’s a definite favourite of mine.

After all that talk of meals I am hungry! But I hope you liked it 🙂

The Day I Held An Owl And 4 Other Things I’ve Completed On My Bucket List Already!

So if you’ve read my previous post about 15 random things on my bucket list I want to do then this is like a little part 2 if you will, this is 5 random things I have already completed on my bucket list already! Enjoy 🙂

  • Hold an owl – Bit of a random one I’ll admit but I got to hold an owl and although I was a little wary it was ADORABLE! They were rescue owls so he had previously had a bad life but he was called sunny and he loved cuddles! (Photo Below)
  • Go to Japan – So in April 2011 we went to Japan to visit my brother for a week, since this was one of the countries on my long list of places to travel I got to tick that off!
  • See a shooting star – Okay so this was a one in a million chance and happened at random but it was a magical experience I wont forget, it happened back home near London when I was at a bus stop seeing my partner home when we both looked up and saw a shooting star! Sounds like something out of a movie which is why I love it! 🙂
  • Get a significant tattoo – So in June 2012 I decided I was going to get a significant tattoo and it would be my first tattoo as well so this was special too for me at least.
  • Learn finger sign language – This is something I am quite proud of that whilst I have been at University I have taught myself finger sign language, which I think is always useful.

That’s a small snippet of 5 random things I have completed already on my bucket list – Hope you enjoyed! 🙂

No7 Intense Volume Mascara short review!

So I decided I wanted to do a quick short review of one of my favourite mascara’s and show you why I love it so much! No7 Intense Volume Mascara has many benefits but one of the main reasons I love it so much is because of the impact it gives my lashes!

I personally have quite small lashes much to my hate! Like most girls and women I dream of having long beautiful lashes so this mascara helped me achieve the result I was after. The mascara brush is a nice enough size to handle and makes application easy plus the darkest black shade makes my eyelashes really stand out.

I have attached some pictures below for you to see before and after with mascara and without. Hope you liked the mini review! 🙂
