Millie ‘n’ Mae Boutique – Brown Vintage Carriage Scarf and Tan Brown Leather Bracelet Promotional Present with discount code*

A long time ago I came across a very sweet and unique boutique called “Millie ‘n’ Mae” and I loved this online boutique because it seemed to sell such quirky and cute things! I emailed them and asked to do a blogging promotional exchange and they happily agreed, so lucky me I got to review two of their beautiful items from their online store here on my blog for all your lovely followers to enjoy!

The boutique sells items such as necklaces and bracelets as well as scarves and other various fashion fun pieces, if you’re looking for a signature piece to complete your outfit then I suggest taking a look here! Not only is the service incredibly fast and friendly, they made me feel more than welcome and were happy to always help! I excitedly received my parcel in the post from “Millie ‘n’ Mae” and took a peek at the treasures inside, I had chosen to review a brown vintage carriage scarf made of 100% polyester and a lovely tan leather brown magnetic clasp bracelet.

The quality of these items was good and they really looked lovely! I loved the colours of the scarf as it can be worn with a variety of vests, t-shirts or even dresses and the bracelet looks really exceptionally well made, I love that it has a magnetic clasp as it makes it easier to take off and put on as well.

Overall I would say the whole interaction with the store has been more than pleasant and very jolly which is always great 🙂 Millie ‘n’ Mae were also kind enough to give all my followers a further 20% discount from there already reasonably cheap prices which is utterly lovely of them and I am sure my followers will love to browse around their online boutique!

The discount code is: URBANITE20

There are photos below of the items, but as I am home from university and my usual photographer is not over at the moment I had to take some self shots! Please excuse the camera quality as the real life items are so much more beautiful in real life 🙂

Make sure you take a look at their home page here: http://millie-n-mae.co.uk/ and they also have Twitter as well so be sure to follow them and show your support for there ever emerging business! https://twitter.com/MillienMae

Maxitone Definity Toning System Strawberry Flavour Review

A while ago I decided that I wanted to get fit and exercise more and tone up for summer (Just like everyone else) I have a pretty athletic/slim build but it was the toning which I wanted to concentrate on and definitely not weight loss! I love food to much anyway 🙂

So I have started going on morning jogs around 10am because it’s the nicest feeling in the world to wake up and smell the fresh air and jog around a really nice park when the sun is out or it’s a little windy listening to my favourite music, I find it refreshing. But I am not a night jogger – too scary for me! Besides jogging I have started working out more specifically focusing around ab curls and plank exercises to strengthen my stomach muscles.

I actually also decided to look in Holland and Barrett for something which may aid my progress and I actually found Maxitone Definity Toning System which is a “Delicious high protein shake, helps your body to recover and repair after exercise” in Strawberry flavour.
I was a little skeptical at using it first because I wasn’t sure if it would work and also because I had never tried anything like this before! But after reading the back of the tub I decided that it would be beneficial to me as protein is well known for aiding healthy skin, hair and nails as well as body muscles.

Although the tub also states that it is key to have a healthy diet as well as doing exercise and incorporating Maxitone into this lifestyle will help you achieve maximum results.
The powder is meant to be mixed with 200ml of water and very honestly it doesn’t taste at all that nice, more like a watered down strawberry milkshake but I am still sticking at it 🙂

So far I think it’s helping and working quite well and after looking at reviews online many people rated this one very high and I have to agree with them, it’s such a healthy idea!

Hair Care Product Reviews – Schwarzkopf Got2B 2 Sexy Big Volume Push Up Volumizing Hairspray & VO5 Plump It Up Shampoo

I am really fussy when it comes to my hair, I have tried a thousand different hair care products since my early teens things like overnight creams, serums, leave on masks, gels, hairsprays, conditioners and shampoos. It’s very rare that actually find something that I like and it works, so I decided to write a blog post on my latest hair care buys because I love them! 🙂

  1. Schwarzkopt Got2B 2 Sexy Big Volume Push Up Volumizing Hairspray
Now this hairspray is one of my favourites and for a good reason, unlike other hairsprays it is not overly thick and heavy, it is pretty weightless and makes your hair feel like it has no hairspray in at all but still keeps the style which is great!
Another high point of this hairspray is that is smells AMAZING! It smells like a mixture of strawberries and raspberries and I love it. Although for a can of hair spray it is quite expensive (Usually more than ÂŁ2.50 but less than ÂŁ5 in different places) but its worth it if you want good looking hair.
  2. VO5 Plump It Up Shampoo
VO5 has always been a brand of shampoo that I have always quite admired and that is because I think they produce some damn good shampoo’s and conditioners! I brought this one the other day because I really wanted a good shampoo that uplifted my hair and made it more stronger and also voluminous. Many hair care brands promise to make your hair more bouncy, stronger, luscious and such but hardly any actually produce such a good product which does what it says. but this one does exactly what it states and that’s why I love it.
Not only does it give body and boost for fine or flat looking hair it also has heat defence which is perfect for me as I use straighteners or curlers a lot!  I noticed my hair was fuller and more thicker after using it just once the first time so it’s a definite win 🙂

T-Zone Deep Cleansing 4 in 1 Invigorating Cooling Scrub With Tea Tree, Menthol & Orange Extract

So I thought that I would try this T-Zone 4 in 1 scrub that I found out shopping, it was half price so I thought I’d give it a go. So how would I rate this product? I love it! It doesn’t make my troublesome skin automatically disappear when I need it too but it smells wonderful and if you love the smell of orange you’ll love this scrub!

The exfoliating beads are not rough like many other scrubs and the formula is not too thick nor too runny so it seems a good balance in consistency. It’s deep cleansing and naturally anti bacterial which is always a bonus but I know with many of these products that contain salicylic acid or tea tree that many people worry their skin will dry out which of course is a possibility and believe me its happened to me before as well but its all about finding a great product that contains these ingredients but which doesn’t dry your skin out, or what I do sometimes if I like a product but it dries my skin out is to moisturize afterwards with some hydrating cream! 🙂

Overall I do like this scrub as it smells nice and its refreshing as well once applied!

Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamin & Extracts Scrub (Avocado and Pomegranate)

Lately my skin has not been amazingly great, due to the fact I probably haven’t ate very good foods to promote healthy skin (That’ll all change though!) and I have felt a little stressed as well so my skin has suffered naturally promoting spots 😦 So when I was in Superdrug the other day I picked up Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamin & Extracts Scrub (Avocado and Pomegranate) in the hope that it would revive my skin a little!

This scrub apparently contains vitamins like vitamin E and contains avocado and pomegranate extracts which promote healthier skin with the aid of anti oxidants and exfoliating beads. The formula itself is quite thick in consistency but is not hard to rub in, I was super excited to use this product but sadly it has had no prevail to my skin, I have been using it for just about a week and have not seen much improvement, but perhaps I am hoping this is due to the fact I need to use it a little longer so I will keep on using it and see how it goes 🙂

The scrub itself smells delicious and I love the Clearasil brand as I believe in their promises and aims (Not sure why?! They just seem more reliable) but this product does not seem to be as powerful as their usual stuff which is kind of a down point. However overall I do still love this product regardless and will continue to give it a second chance 🙂

Best Foundation & Mascara I Have Ever Brought Review!

Okay so for a long time I stopped wearing foundation simply because I just couldn’t put up with trying to constantly find a shade that matched my skin tone, I am very pale and searching for the perfect foundation for me is a pain! If I buy the wrong one I can end up looking orange and I myself prefer the natural look  and I go for liquid foundation because I find it more better personally for me, so I have always searched for a foundation that ticks all my boxes:

  • Natural looking coverage
  • Covers spots efficiently
  • Covers dark under eye circles
  • Not too thick
  • Closest shade to my skin tone
  • Not to expensive

So like many girls I find looking for foundation tiresome and something which I gave up on a few months back, I have only really been using cover sticks and light powder. But the other day I was in Boots and I decided to give this new foundation I saw a go, It’s called On The Spot Foundation by Seventeen and it apparently gives you clearer skin in 4 weeks!

Now sometimes when I get very under the weather or stressed like many I tend to get spots and I hate them, but this foundation apparently gives clearer skin in 4 weeks which was a definite selling point for me. Not to mention they did a very light fair pale colour which when I tested it, it matched my skin tone perfectly! –  SUCCESS. It wasn’t thick and when I applied it, it rubbed in perfectly and gave me and all round clear and fresh complexion plus it was cheap in regards of pricing at only ÂŁ5.

Also I managed to find probably the most effective mascara I have used in a long time! It is called Scandal Eyes By Rimmel and I love it. The brush is big and thick but not too large that it makes application hard. You don’t even need to use more than one mascara when using this as it gives lashes a big impact look and my eyelashes look super long (Mine are naturally tiny) so this is a recommended buy!

New Weekly Blogger Interviews – Blogger Sophie Bolton

Image
Name: Sophie Bolton
Location: Bristol
Age: 18

What three things do you blog about most: I post a lot about skin care as I’m a bit of an addict, I will literally buy a new product as soon as i can afford it, I still haven’t found the one for my skin, so that’s why I have so many reviews, and advice because it’s what I know about! Secondly I think hair care is what I post about a lot, as recently I’ve got into caring for my hair, before I wouldn’t really take much care, I’d just use a cheap shampoo and the odd hair mask now and again, but now I’m just obsessed with having soft hair! I also love posting tips and tricks, it’s just nice to share your experience with others! 😀

Name three words to describe your blog: Small, honest and happy. I love my blog to have a happy feel to it, there’s nothing better than making people smile!

When did you first start blogging: I started on March 28th 2013. So I haven’t been blogging that long.

Why did you begin to blog: I had so much going on in personal life that I wanted an escape? I place where I could talk about all the happy things, the things I love, and talking to like minded people, it was the best decision I ever made. I’ve read blogs and watched the YT videos since I was 14 so I seemed right, haha…

What’s one blogging tip that you would share with other potential bloggers: Be honest. Don’t try and be something you’re not, people will read your blog because they like what they read, and they don’t want to be talking to someone who doesn’t see real. Also honesty. If your thinking of beauty blogging, even if you hate a product share it, I mean not all the time, but don’t lie about a things, share it, share your experience. Let people know if you’d recommend or really would not buy something. It’s the best way!

Do you see yourself still blogging in three/five years time: Definitely! I’m hoping to go to college and do make-up so this would be amazing to show you all, I love it, and I can’t ever see myself stopping. I tried to take a break a few weeks ago, I last 2 days!

What’s one of the best things about being a blogger: It has to be the people you meet, I’ve met lots of lovely girls and boys as well! The Best thing is comments, It sounds silly like out of everything, I just love comments, it shows people are actually reading and enjoying my blog, and I do love a good ol’ natter!

Has blogging helped you significantly in any other way? It’s helped me have better hair! haha… It’s really helped me in speaking and meeting new people, and definitely have improved my spelling.

Just want to say a thank you to Sophie for taking part! 🙂

What To Bring To University – Advice From A Student

Okay so you’ll see things on the internet and stuff telling you all this crazy stuff you’re meant to bring to university with you when you leave home, many shops and retailers take advantage of this and try and push lots of deals on stuff and things onto you as well but from experience I can tell you what you will need as a rough guideline! 🙂

Do Bring:

  • Your bedding – Otherwise you’ll freeze to death when it’s cold at night! Some Universities may already give you bedding so double check before you make your trip.
  • Your documents – VERY essential, bring passports, driving licenses, bank cards, important letters and details with you. Best idea is to buy a small plastic wallet and store them all in there in case you need them, which you definitely will.
  • Any sentimental things – Well that was an obvious one right? Unless you want to leave them at home.
  • Room decorations – University rooms are notoriously plain and bland, soon the walls will drive you mad! Bring some posters, fairy lights, plants (I had a mint plant but it died cause the sun killed it 😦 ) and such to brighten up your room and make you feel more at home and happy. I brought posters, drawings, wall art and a lava lamp 😀
  • Your clothes, Make-up and other essentials – Another obvious one.
  • Cutlery, cups and Kitchen ware – Do not assume you’ll need one set just for you because when you make friends or your boyfriend comes round for dinner and they haven’t got anything to eat off of they wont be happy, plus lots of it will probably go missing or get lost as well, always clever to have more than one set. Do not buy anything fancy, you’re going to university no one worries what sort of kitchen ware you have, plus most students take plates and pans from home that their parents do not need anyway. (Most Universities supply a kettle, ironing board and microwave but double check with yours if they do!)
  • Notepads – It is probably best to run to poundland or 99p store and grab a few lined notepads before you come as they’ll be cheaper do not buy loads assuming you’ll use every page because I doubt you will in the end.
  • Medical kit – You will need this at some point most likely, stock it with painkillers, bandages, plasters, disinfectant and other little bits in case of emergencies as it is always handy.
  • An alarm clock – Unless you use your phone like me you will need something to wake you up in the morning for those lectures and seminars!
  • Laptop – Bring your laptop because obviously you’ll need it for coursework and such plus entertainment 😀
  • TV – Now some uni’s may not have televisions within your room but they may have a communal TV or none at all in which case you can consider bringing your own but TV licensing will be quite pricey!
  • Optional things – Such as stereo, xbox and ps3, board games, sport equipment, mp3 players etc.

Do not bring things you wont use or need – they will eventually take up to much space!

This was my room at University first year (below)

Student money saving tips – From a student!

Students are notoriously broke all the time, the  media does well to remind us all that we waste our money most of the time but sometimes that’s not the case and sometimes  unexpected circumstances land us without money. So I thought a money saving post would be useful and helpful to all the students out there 🙂

  • Buy a rail card or bus card – this is prime if you’re someone who uses trains or buses a lot to get around, plus it saves you packets of money!
  • Buy in bulk – Buying food in bulk can be hard to get home but definitely worth it in the end when you have tons of food for half the price.
  • Visit fruit and veg markets – Going to local markets is cheaper than going to a major super market, food will be cheaper and sourced locally and much more healthier as well. Plus most market stall holders will give away fruit and vegetables at the end of a days trading if they have lots left over so take advantage of this.
  • Cooking from scratch – This is so much cheaper than buying lots of microwaveable meals plus it’s healthier too!
  • Grab all the discounts you can – NUS and various other student discount services make sure that us students are plied with money saving coupons so use what you can.
  • Discounts where you work – Sometimes being strategic about where you want to work can bring advantages, for example if you love fashion try and apply for one of your favourite fashion retailers that way you gain discount on all your favourite items! Or if you’re more creative and love food try to work in a bakery or somewhere where at the end of the day you are welcome to take home the leftover cakes and savories!
  • Invest in a printer – This is a sure fire way to save money if your university is one where you have to pay for printing. My parents brought me a printer to which I use endlessly to print off essays and coursework and I have saved loads.
  • Vintage fairs and Car boot sales – Going to these can prove fruitful, it’s a great way to find things you wanted at bargain prices!
  • Bad habits? – Try to kick the bad habits, smoking, eating take away regularly and drinking seem to be the biggest factors for wasting money now I know this is hard so if you cant give up then at least limit what you spend on these things.
  • Hand washing – This is something that not everyone is willing to try but believe me if you pay to do your washing then hand washing is cheaper, easier and faster and you’ll save loads.
  • Packed lunch – Taking packed lunch to University can sometimes be cheaper in the long run compared to buying food out or at the canteen.

Well these are just a few money saving  tips hope you enjoyed 🙂
