Would 8 year old me be proud of me right now?

So I saw an interesting question quite a lot of people have posed and it’s would 8 year old me be proud of me right now at this point in my life if they could see me? So I thought I’d find my own answer to this because no one else can answer this for me obviously 🙂

When I was 8 I wanted to be a baker with my dad, a gymnast, a ballerina, an army cadet, a teacher and a vet just to name a few but you name it I have probably wanted to be that profession once in my younger years.

But how did it all turn out so far? Well I believe that if 8 year old me could see me now, they would be proud and there’s many reasons for this…

1. I’m at university, something which I always looked up to my siblings for and I knew since I was little I wanted to go to university to get a degree and the job I always wanted.
2. I have met someone who I think the world of and they think the world of me back! When I was little I would think about meeting someone significant and falling in love like it was in the movies I’d watch and books I’d read. 8 year old me never really believed in fate or even knew it existed but I can say in my opinion that now I know it exists and I think little me would be proud of this discovery.
3. I have travelled and intend to travel to many other countries. When I was little I dreamed about travelling to all the different countries, spinning my globe and pinning my finger on a random place when it stopped spinning was something I loved doing! (Although most of the time my finger ended up pointing to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!)
4. I have finally gained the confidence boost I needed, when I was in primary school and also a part of secondary school I was called “Mary mouse” because I was so quiet and I was scared of everything! But now that part of me seems like a distant memory 🙂
5. In general I’d say I have come a long way, I have learnt a lot, experienced a lot and just overcome obstacles and such which 8 year old me never would have even realised existed. Along with this 8 year old me would’ve been happy to know that my little family back then has now expanded and I am an auntie to 5 lovely children as well as being a godmother and having a closer relationship with all my siblings and parents among other achievements 🙂

So my answer is probably yes 8 year old me would be proud of me if they could see me now because I’m exactly where I want to be in life at the moment, working towards what I want and growing up twelve years on I have gained a lot.

I do have a picture of me at 8 but I won’t post it because it’s too cringy! but thank you for reading, feel free to follow or like 🙂

Paper Towns By John Green – Book Review!

“She loved mysteries so much she became one”

I love love love to read, well only if it is a book I get into completely because I hate reading books which do not capture me because I know I will end up giving up reading it and then would’ve felt kinda crappy about not finishing something someone spent a majority of their life writing but that’s just me. The kind of books I tend to go for are a little older than young adult, I don’t like anything too serious or morbid and prefer something with a little lighthearted tone or underlying message, however contradicting myself I must admit I did and still do enjoy the ‘A Series Of Unfortunate Events’ series by Lemony Snicket.

However enough rambling! I brought ‘Paper Towns’ by John Green after reading another one of his books called ‘Looking For Alaska’, now I was really impressed with ‘Looking For Alaska’ and I initially got it because I saw on the GoodReads website that it was popular and well recommended and after reading it (took me four days) I can see why! However I wont start talking about that book because I am here to write a review about ‘Paper Towns’, the book itself is witty and filled with funny passages as well as parts that as a teenager or young adult (even an adult!) you can relate to which makes the book itself all that much more appealing.

There is something special about how the book itself is written and how the characters and their internal and external relationships with each other are portrayed, but I also loved that this book was unlike any other I have ever read it was not the generic plot I was expecting but something much more different and inspiring as well as adventurous!

(SPOILERS BELOW SCROLL DOWN TO KEEP READING)

The story itself is in short about a boy called Quentin Jacobsen and his fascination and love for a wild and adventurous girl called Margo Roth Spiegelman whom he does not speak to at all until one night she requests his help getting her revenge on those who have wronged her and we are thrown into a world of revenge, love, fun and adventure while we follow their night of mischief however the following morning when Quentin arrives at school Margo is no where to be found and she has disappeared! At this point in the book I was like “Ahhh where did she go! I hope nothing bad has happened to her!” but to my relief the rest of the novel follows Quentin and his friends on a road trip following clues Margo has purposely and non purposely left for them to follow all over the place near and far which leads them to her in the end to a place far away where Margo admits she left and her and Quentin say goodbye once again.

So all in all it was an excellent book which I will read again and again because it is a favourite of mine! Pick it up and have a read if you feel like this is the book for you 🙂

Hope you enjoyed my review!

What’s lurking in the water? Sharks?

The Western Australia shark cull has widely been spoken about, debated, gained media coverage and questioned inevitably sparking quite the debate worldwide, some joyous and others disgusted.

It is understandable that some agree to the killing spree of sharks along the Western Australian Coast and other parts of Australia due to the recent and frequent deaths. However it is also understandable there are mass protests against this quite simply barbaric way of dealing with things.

In my opinion and mine solely I believe that killing an already threatened species won’t make much of a change except in the ecosystem because whether we like it or not even the dangerous, ugly & weird animals are all needed to do their part and have a place in this world. After all we have came a long way, stopping finning in most countries and other harmful issues to marine life are rather big achievements compared to previous centuries but now it seems all of that has been temporarily disregarded.

Understandably some people are pro shark culling and that is purely because they see sharks as killing machines, ruthless through and through but I think if more people were shown true statistics (see if there are any info-graphics, they’re a fun way to learn stats!) then a majority would be less resentful of sharks but evidentially this wouldn’t stop shark attacks obviously, so it is imperative to provide the public and those interested with the proper information and preventative measures of avoiding a shark attack. Further to the previous point another reason a proportion of people are pro shark culling is because of the recent and tragic deaths or attacks on those within the sea, it is however deeply saddening whenever someone passes no matter what the cause.

Sharks are an amazingly strong, agile apex marine predator and are my favourite animal (who would’ve guessed! :p) so I just thought I’d throw in a little blog post because of the current situation regarding sharks 🙂

Hope you enjoyed reading it and remember it’s just my opinion! 🙂

Changes, changes, changes!

So I haven’t really wrote a blog post in quite a while and that’s down to a lot of factors like university and also my inability to work out where I want my blog to go from here (Sigh). Many of you may know that I started blogging back around April last year and it is something I quite enjoy doing, I have gained some lovely followers and on top of that I find blogging to be quite fun! But this year I would like my blog to go in a different direction, before my blog was about fashion, beauty and such but now I would really like to move to an all round blog where I do not have to just post one specific genre of posts and I get to post about everything and anything from places I may travel, food I cook or try, life goals and inspirations, general chit chat and everything else you can think of because I think it will be quite a good boost for my blog and myself to be able to feel free to write about anything I like and that’s what blogging is about in the end 🙂

So this post is just to let you all know, I wont strictly be a fashion/beauty blog anymore although I will still do some fashion and beauty inspired posts among many others that are to come 🙂

I hope you all stick around to see this year with me!

Fashion Union Melodie Black 10 Pu Biker Jacket with Faux Fur Review*

Happy New Year Everyone!

I haven’t blogged in a while and that is because it has been exam period and also Christmas! I thought today would be an ideal day to start my post because it is now 2014. So a while ago I got in touch with Fashion Union, a really lovely and unique online fashion store that has a wide range of clothes and accessories at really good prices! They were lovely enough to send me a wonderful jacket to review for all my lovely followers, being winter I absolutely loved the jacket and thought it was an ideal sample of clothing to review so I was very happy! I got sent the Melodie Black 10 Pu Biker Jacket with Faux Fur* which you can find on their website or by clicking the banner at the side of my blog! When the package arrived it was packed really well, I opened it with haste and excitement and I got exactly what I was expecting but more! It was a really lovely jacket, I usually am rather fussy when it comes to coats and jackets because size and material is a big issue because in winter you want a coat that looks great but is big enough so you can wear jumpers and cardigans underneath without looking awful, and this jacket was great because it is big enough that I can wear those warm jumpers underneath and still looks amazing anyway.

Another advantage is this jacket can go with practically anything I wear, it is durable in the rain and is really warm – overall a big thumbs up! Fashion Unions customer service was excellent and even emailed to let me know if there would be any delays and such, they were one of the friendliest companies and I will be shopping there again! 🙂

Big thank you to Fashion Union, also I hope you all had a wonderful New Years!
