Sometimes I feel like giving this 30 day challenge up because it is so damn hard to post on time! hehe but I will upload the photo’s as often and on time as I can because I am committed to finishing this!
Day 19 was vintage and I chose my necklace that my partner brought me because it’s really beautiful, it’s from a film we watched a while ago called the illusionist and its a mechanical wooden locket! 🙂
So I went looking for something I handmade around my flat because today is the keyword ‘Handmade’. I love to make things, I’d say I am creative but whether I am any good at it is another story! The reason I love making things is because I personally find it fun and relaxing, so I tend to spend my time doing some arty things when I am not overflowed with coursework or doing seminar reading for uni! 🙂
The handmade item I chose is something I did last Summer after a day spent in London, my partner knows I love sharks so brought me a 3D wooden shark model kit to construct from the natural history museum so I spent a whole afternoon fixing all the pieces together to make a 3D shark and then I painted it! 🙂
Any things that you like to make or are proud of having made? Let me know! 🙂
I never wore lipstick but now I do, not everyday but frequently – to this day I am still uncovering new make up (like primer!) & make up tips to try out (like contouring!) and a while ago I came across some excellent magazine articles on lipstick & they really intrigued me to try lipstick out. Personally I love to keep my make up minimal and natural but I also love to see make up that shows bursts of colour so why not combine the two? I went to town to trifle through the shops looking for the perfect shade of lipstick to compliment my natural make up and I came across two lovely shades of pink so I thought I would share them with you all and do a mini review! 🙂
- Rimmel Lipstick in 006 Pink Blush
This lipstick caught my eye because I know Rimmel do some absolutely lovely lipsticks, glosses and tints. The shade is very light bright pink, when I first brought it I was worried that it would come out like a fluorescent pink but I thought I’d take the chance and actually it came out in a lovely pastel pink shade so I was happy. It glides on my lips really smoothly and feels lightweight, the only problem is you need to reapply often as it wears away a bit.
- Collection 2000 Lipstick in 13 Vintage Rose
My favourite at the moment! It’s a dark pink shade the name of the colour describes it perfectly – Vintage rose. If you want a darker shade of pink that isn’t too dark and compliments natural make up then this is one to try! It is applied easily and goes on my lips without any issues, it is relatively long lasting although it does come off when drinking but doesn’t when eating or at least that’s what I’ve found others may find different 🙂
Thank you for reading lovelies! Let me know if you have any lipstick suggestions as I am on the lookout for new ones, also let me know your favourites as well 🙂
So I have been seeing a lot of the 30 day photo challenges around lately and after looking at loads I couldn’t find one that suited me so I decided to make my own one up because after all its just for fun anyway! I am starting it tomorrow because I’m too impatient to wait for the 1st of March and plus I want to just get it started, I don’t think it matters if you don’t start on the first anyway 🙂
Feel free to take the challenge from below and do it yourself, I think it’s worth doing just because the keywords are open to interpretation and it’ll be interesting what others come up with but let me know if you do and such so I can see the photo’s!
I’ll be posting my first picture tomorrow! NATURE 🙂
So as you may have realized I haven’t been posting as much as I usually do and that’s because I have had quite a hectic but positive week! For those of you that follow my blog for updates on my journey to become a fashion journalist, well I have some little updates for you! Firstly I am now writing for another two new magazines who have a large readership so that’s quite exciting, not to mention one of the magazines is also American which is a great way for me to expand my experience in journalism and magazines globally.
So now I write for 4 magazines, some on a weekly basis and others on a monthly basis which is fine by me as I love writing and the flexibility fits in great with my life! So my fashion and journalism experience is adding up now so I made a mini list so you can see what I have accomplished this month:
- Becoming a Fashion Ambassador for Fashion156.com
- Writing for another British based magazine
- Writing for an American based magazine
- I have done my first ever model photo shoot in 1960’s and 1980’s vintage clothing
- Completed lots of promotional exchanges with many online stores
Well moving on, I have finished my first year of University a week ago and traveled home for Summer break so I have been catching up with my family back in North London so I haven’t been posting much! But now I am starting to post more often, so bare with me guys! 🙂
I have been reading endless Vogue and ELLE magazines lately, I never use to buy them because they were quite pricey but now I am just starting to read them and I love the content. I also went into my local library and I found the March Issue of Vogue for 30p! So I brought that as it was a bargain.
So a while ago I did a review on a shop I really loved in Leeds called Upstaged Vintage, the shop has clothes from decades past and stocks some really unique and colourful items.
In return for my review on their shop the owner asked me if I would like to have some complimentary photo’s done as a thank you and also to go on their shop website, I of course agreed happily! So on Friday just before I came home I went and had them done, I chose three outfits and these were the pictures – very happy with them! 🙂
With the upcoming release of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel ‘The Great Gatsby’ which is to be released in May there is an air of excitement and thrill. As many of you may know if you have watched the trailer that the movie will be starring famous actors and actresses such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan and that’s not all everyone is looking forward to seeing, many are thrilled to see the glitzy and beautiful fashion trends that rocked the 1920’s, the era in which the novel and film take place in.
I love the 1920’s flapper dresses the most, I like the way they accentuate the women’s curves whenever a lady wore one and the way they compliment the body. They came in a range of colours and styles which makes them the ultimate Great Gatsby piece! Bold embroidery and soft colourful hues make these dresses look irresistible to say the least.
Throughout the Great Gatsby novel and film we as the audience are aware of the apparel of many of the characters and this being a favourite among many women. This Summer many people will be looking to recreate the Gatsby style and flapper dresses are a sure way to go!
In the heart of the voluminous and vibrant city of Leeds lies a beautiful shop full to the brim of vintage clothing from the 40’s right through until the late 80’s. I love this shop because of the sense of nostalgia and antique about it! So after emailing they kindly agreed to let me use some of their professional pictures so I could do a review about some of their brilliantly beautiful pieces of clothing! 🙂
I love this American Indian jumper/dress! It’s called the ‘Navaho Design Jumper’ and I love how it looks so inviting and warm, yet comfortable and vintage all at the same time. The patterning is bright and eye catching which is always a great aspect of a popular fashion piece, I also enjoy the thrills at the end and the fact it can be worn both as a dress or a jumper and can be combined with leggings or tights to create the individual look you want.
This next one comes from their 60’s range and is called the ‘Bronze Organza Prom Dress’ and I love it! The patterning and material seem to match perfectly and the colour is perfectly flattering, this is a wonderful choice of dress for anyone looking to accentuate their figure.
Lastly I really do adore this dress it’s so colourful and spontaneous! The dress itself is called ‘Pink and Black Velvet Flock Prom Dress’, personally I love the vibrant patterning and clash of colours that go so well and it goes perfectly with tights and the right pair of shoes! This shop has really impressed me with their vintage and unique range of clothing from the nostalgic era’s and I’m more than pleased to write a review for these fabulous pieces of clothing! I suggest to everyone that they take a look inside their shop before everything sells out! 🙂
