As you know I am looking to expand my blog to new platforms such as Facebook and Pinterest and I thought I would give Bloglovin a go as well. It is a website where you can search for blogs and also follow blogs and all your posts and such are synced to it so you don’t even need to post on there! Time saver 🙂
I have only set it up today so still looking around it, but if you have bloglovin I would love it if you could follow! 🙂 (Link below)
This Summer there are many trends to be released and I thought I would focus on one specific one – Pastels. Pastels make some of the best colours for outfits because of the sweet innocent hues that are used, and it will be big this Summer! So I thought that I would show you guys some of the best pastel pieces that will be around! 🙂
Baby pink, powder blue, sweet honey yellow, mint green and summer orange are all big hits this Summer and I love them! They look so beautiful as an outfit or as an accessory and I think it gives the right impression of Summer, something sweet and playful.
As you all know I love blogging and writing articles and I am aiming to become a fashion journalist in the future, well I have an update on my journey I have now become a Social media and blogging intern for a upcoming fashion based London magazine and website! I got the email yesterday and accepted of course and now I look after multiple platforms of social media and things for this website and magazine by updating and posting pictures from designers or sources and other bits and bobs!
At the moment it seems a little hectic as I have a lot of essays due and an exam in two weeks as well as keeping up and writing for some of the other magazines I write for but I couldn’t turn this down. I am hoping it’ll ease up a bit soon but it seems fun 🙂
Okay so you’ll see things on the internet and stuff telling you all this crazy stuff you’re meant to bring to university with you when you leave home, many shops and retailers take advantage of this and try and push lots of deals on stuff and things onto you as well but from experience I can tell you what you will need as a rough guideline! 🙂
Your bedding – Otherwise you’ll freeze to death when it’s cold at night! Some Universities may already give you bedding so double check before you make your trip.
Your documents – VERY essential, bring passports, driving licenses, bank cards, important letters and details with you. Best idea is to buy a small plastic wallet and store them all in there in case you need them, which you definitely will.
Any sentimental things – Well that was an obvious one right? Unless you want to leave them at home.
Room decorations – University rooms are notoriously plain and bland, soon the walls will drive you mad! Bring some posters, fairy lights, plants (I had a mint plant but it died cause the sun killed it 😦 ) and such to brighten up your room and make you feel more at home and happy. I brought posters, drawings, wall art and a lava lamp 😀
Your clothes, Make-up and other essentials – Another obvious one.
Cutlery, cups and Kitchen ware – Do not assume you’ll need one set just for you because when you make friends or your boyfriend comes round for dinner and they haven’t got anything to eat off of they wont be happy, plus lots of it will probably go missing or get lost as well, always clever to have more than one set. Do not buy anything fancy, you’re going to university no one worries what sort of kitchen ware you have, plus most students take plates and pans from home that their parents do not need anyway. (Most Universities supply a kettle, ironing board and microwave but double check with yours if they do!)
Notepads – It is probably best to run to poundland or 99p store and grab a few lined notepads before you come as they’ll be cheaper do not buy loads assuming you’ll use every page because I doubt you will in the end.
Medical kit – You will need this at some point most likely, stock it with painkillers, bandages, plasters, disinfectant and other little bits in case of emergencies as it is always handy.
An alarm clock – Unless you use your phone like me you will need something to wake you up in the morning for those lectures and seminars!
Laptop – Bring your laptop because obviously you’ll need it for coursework and such plus entertainment 😀
TV – Now some uni’s may not have televisions within your room but they may have a communal TV or none at all in which case you can consider bringing your own but TV licensing will be quite pricey!
Optional things – Such as stereo, xbox and ps3, board games, sport equipment, mp3 players etc.
Do not bring things you wont use or need – they will eventually take up to much space!
Okay so it’s coming to the end of my first year in University which means I’ll no longer need to live in halls with 5 other people because I have a lease on a beautiful apartment with my partner for our second year so were excited to leave halls! I was thinking about some things that I have learnt from living in halls specifically and how I’ve learnt to cope with flatmates and all the drama and craziness that comes with it. So here it goes! 🙂
Your flatmates are just as nervous as you on your first day moving in, On my first day at halls I unpacked my things, my parents said their goodbyes and sadly had to leave. I sat in my chair and burst out crying to which then led one of my new flatmates to come in and give me hug to cheer me up and explained she felt the same but she’s next door if I want to chat so I’m not alone.
The first few weeks no one touches your food out of shyness and respect, then BAM! after a month or so you start to realise your shopping is disappearing and its not going into your tummy but someone else’s instead!
You wont like all your flatmates and they wont all like you. When you first move in everyone is friendly to each other, they will talk to you and get to know you a bit better and then once you’ve all been stuck in the same apartment for such a long time arguments and disagreements form, bitching happens and things are not as rosy as they were in the beginning anymore.
You may get a flat of people who overly clean or you may get flatmates who have low standards of hygiene, your flat is a pick’n’mix of students remember not everyone will have the same outlook as you on things such as cleaning up or tidying.
Everyone insists on playing their music on the loudest volume possible. When you come to halls it seems everyone wants to be a DJ for your whole flat! This is a sure fire way to annoy any flatmates as well, especially if your trying to revise for an exam the next day or you don’t like their taste in music.
So that’s five little thing’s I have learnt from personal experience at Uni halls 🙂
So just a few more weeks and my first year fresher life will be up and I’ll be going on Summer break and coming back a second year student! My life as a fresher has had its good points and its bad points and its damn well ugly points! So I was thinking what things do I wish I had known before I came to University last September? Well…
Loans and Overdrafts run out VERY quick, It’s all cool when you look into your bank balance and you see a shining beautiful sum of cash within the thousands, but believe me that runs out faster than you can blink. I discussed this a lot of the time with my friends about where our money goes when we have nothing and everyone says roughly the same thing ‘I don’t even know what it got spent on?!?!’ Many times have I withdrawn £20 and the next day it’s all gone and all I have to show for it is a packet of crisps and a basic shop? I’m not sure if there is a magical Uni overdraft stealing fairy but I wish I listened to people who warned me before I came that money goes so quickly.
Pre-meeting your flatmates helps A LOT! I only met one flat mate before I moved in and we met over Facebook, but now looking back to it everyone had already met everyone by the time they got to Uni so I felt like that’s probably something I should have thought about before hand.
I will be kissing goodbye the luxuries I enjoyed everyday. Now looking back I wish I didn’t take things like sweets, magazines and such for granted because now I rarely get a chance to get them because I’m so broke.
Bring extra cutlery. It’s not cool when you have someone over for dinner and you only have one set of cutlery and one plate…Awkward. Plus a lot of the time people either take/steal or ‘borrow’ your kitchen ware which can get annoying as most of it never actually returns! When I first came to University we only packed like one plate, few bowls and cups and couple knives and forks but by the end of my second semester I had like one plate left in my possession. BUY EXTRA!
I want to be a fashion journalist. If you didn’t know that you do now 🙂 My aim is to be a successful blogger and fashion journalist in the future for a big time glossy magazine, I’m not materialistic at all…far from it! My previous desired occupation was a nurse, I know what you’re thinking a bit of a crazy jump from one to the other? Well turns out my love for fashion and magazines has been combined by my newly discovered talent of being able to write good articles and it’s something I enjoy so there you have it 🙂

So I haven’t blogged in a few days and that’s because I have been unintentionally busy! As you all know I had a job interview in the Easter holidays which is why I had to stay up north, I passed the interview with flying colours and got hired only to finally start my first day on Wednesday and it was CRAZY! Let me fill you in…
So after searching endlessly for a job I found one and got it so I thought this was going to be the start of something great, I thought I’d love it and I would work loads happily and get lots of moneeeey! (An essential for a student) HOWEVER… it wasn’t as it seemed, my day started out rushed and I got thrown into the deep end because the store was overly busy and packed. With a smile on my face I carried on with hopes that it would get better, I had 2 hours of going through the safety and fire booklet with a manager making jokes about all the safety precautions…this didn’t bother me to much but next to me were two girls openly talking about me?! I was in disbelief, I was sat right next to them, oh well continuing the story anyway…
Putting on a brave face I continued and once the precautions and safety talk was finally over I got my uniform, had to put it on in a smelly tiny dirty toilet hobbling around on one leg trying to get my balance so I didn’t put my foot in this ‘water’ that looked suspiciously like urine on the floor. Once my uniform was on I got taken up stairs and put on the shop floor where I was given my equipment and expected to know what I was doing, I felt intimidated to say the least and I kept clock checking my whole ‘training day’ (A.K.A Basically my first shift). This and the fact most customers were angry made a horrible concoction for a first day 😦
So all in all, I left my job. I simply cannot stay where I feel out of place, I would rather work somewhere I love so that I enjoy going to work 🙂 The positive side to this story is that I got another interview next week on Tuesday for a big fashion retailer that I wanted, so I just hope that my interview goes well 🙂 – Wish me luck!
Anyway I brought some new make up bits the other day, I brought a Collection 2000 Colour Pout Lastin Lip Stain in 2 Kiss and Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer in 1 Fair (Because I am rather pale) and that gives 16 hours wear! Also this week I have painted my nails in Maybelline New York Forever Strong Professional 202 Really Rosy.
I also thought it would be good if I revealed my secret make up bag utensils and essentials, I tend to go for the barely there/natural look a lot of the time and the only thing I really emphasize is my eyelashes because they are quite small…(May seem like ALOT of mascara but that’s because I need to clear out my old ones!)

Today I had my hospital appointment at 9am so I was awake really early (Something that I was only really used to back at home- now I’m just lazy), I didn’t get much sleep either so being tired made me feel horrid! Because I was up early it meant that I started my day early as well which was nice because today was warm and spring like 🙂 (Pictures at the bottom!)
After the hospital we walked all the way home which is like a 30 minute walk and then we decided that we would go on a little country walk since the weather was really nice and we had found a walking route. We started our adventure promptly, walking towards the opening of the forest walkway it looked something similar to a horror movie even despite the blissful sun, but we carried on because we were aiming to get to a beautiful viewing spot where you can see the whole city skyline! We walked for a good 20 minutes up hill through the countryside farms until we reached a field of horses which is where I saw my first baby foal in real life – It was uber cute! Being pretty tired we stopped to take photos and admire the horses when they suddenly decided to go on a rampage and get all protective so we left quite quickly because I got scared one might jump over the fence! (I’m a big chicken)
Sometime after this we finally reached the peak of the hill and we got a beautiful view of the Leeds city skyline which is really something 🙂 My partner made a joke about the lack of skyscrapers in Leeds and it went something like this ‘There’s hardly any skyscrapers, if spider man was swinging through the city he wouldn’t get anywhere’ which made me laugh :’)
We took lots of photos and made our way back home, we were both relieved to be able to rest and I had a good 6 hour nap to replenish my tired self 🙂 Sadly I’m back at uni tomorrow for lectures/seminars but what can you do… 😦 Nearly home for Summer though just got a few more weeks to go and then I’ll be blogging about my summer at home in North London which should be exciting and different! 😀
I hope you all had a nice day, follow follow follow 🙂 See you tomorrow!
So it is Easter Sunday today and to be honest it’s been a partly sad but relaxing day, I said goodbye to my parents as they headed home towards London while I stay here in Leeds which was pretty emotional especially as this is my first Easter away from home.
A little explanation- the reason I didn’t go home for Easter was because I actually managed to get a job interview (I got the job!) which happened to be in the Easter break plus I had a hectic amount of work to do for when I go back for my final semester of first year. While everyone else was leaving my halls with suitcases packed and getting in cars and on every train, bus or coach I was stuck up in the chilly North with snow. Luckily my partner had to stay as well for his job so at least I wasn’t completely alone, if he wasn’t here either I think I would’ve ran all the way home by now out of loneliness. So this morning my parents left after a really nice weekend showing them around Leeds, I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend to be honest it was lovely seeing them. So this Easter has been nice and lucky me I also won £10 on a lottery ticket – the most I’ve ever won! So I’m going to treat myself to an eyebrow threading appointment, usually I always keep on top of my eyebrows making sure they’re kept tidy but lately being a student without tweezers or money for threading has had bad results on my eyebrows – to which my dad made some pretty funny jokes about over the weekend!
I also think I have sprained my ankle as it kills! 😦 So I’m kind of just hobbling around as well, but I brought some cucumber and used it on my eyes and had a long nap (5 whole hours!) because I really needed some sleep and to rest my ankle. But that’s been my Easter so far, a mixture of good and bad but still great… just want to wish everyone a Happy Easter! 😀 (Below is the cutest picture ever that I found on Google)
