Where Have I Been Hiding & Journey To Be A Fashion Journalist Updates!

ieiert  gregf

Hey Everyone!

So as you may have realized I haven’t been posting as much as I usually do and that’s because I have had quite a hectic but positive week! For those of you that follow my blog for updates on my journey to become a fashion journalist, well I have some little updates for you! Firstly I am now writing for another two new magazines who have a large readership so that’s quite exciting, not to mention one of the magazines is also American which is a great way for me to expand my experience in journalism and magazines globally.

So now I write for 4 magazines, some on a weekly basis and others on a monthly basis which is fine by me as I love writing and the flexibility fits in great with my life! So my fashion and journalism experience is adding up now so I made a mini list so you can see what I have accomplished this month:

  • Becoming a Fashion Ambassador for Fashion156.com
  • Writing for another British based magazine
  • Writing for an American based magazine
  • I have done my first ever model photo shoot in 1960’s and 1980’s vintage clothing
  • Completed lots of promotional exchanges with many online stores

Well moving on, I have finished my first year of University a week ago and traveled home for Summer break so I have been catching up with my family back in North London so I haven’t been posting much! But now I am starting to post more often, so bare with me guys! 🙂

I have been reading endless Vogue and ELLE magazines lately, I never use to buy them because they were quite pricey but now I am just starting to read them and I love the content. I also went into my local library and I found the March Issue of Vogue for 30p! So I brought that as it was a bargain.Image

No More Exams, The End Of First Year At University, Model Pictures and New York Blogger Interview

So I have no more exams! I am officially free, no more exams, revision or coursework and it feels GREAT. Like everyone I get majorly stressed out when I have exams and coursework due or I need to revise and I end up getting pretty cranky which is never good, but yesterday was the last day for me to hand in coursework and now I officially start my Summer and it’s officially the end of my first year at university.

So what was my first year like? Well I learnt to cook for myself, learnt DIY like sewing and hand washing things, learnt to be independent and that’s pretty much it. It was fun, it went by so quickly seems like only the other week I was a innocent little fresher entering the big world of university being anxious and homesick. So I do not go back to university until September and then I will be starting my second year there, I will also no longer be staying in halls as I have my own apartment which is a little cosy cute place in the middle of this industrious city and it faces a big beautiful park! So I am looking forward to moving in there and being able to cook cakes and meals in my own kitchen.

First year I guess was pretty laid back I’d say, apparently second year gets much tougher. Anyway tomorrow I am going back home to North London and I am pretty excited/nervous as I haven’t been home since January! So hopefully there will be new content and more exciting things happening to blog about.

Well in other news I had some professional photo’s taken of myself yesterday as a thank you from Upstaged in Leeds for blogging about their beautiful vintage clothes. The photo’s hopefully will look wonderful and it was the first time I had ever had professional photo’s taken so I am excited to see the outcome which I will blog when I get them! Also I had a blogger interview with a fashion based company in New York called ‘The Fashion Potential’, about my blog and such would be wonderful if you could check it out here:  http://ht.ly/l8ubC

Anyway I hope you are all well! Thanks for following and such 🙂 Have a great weekend!

4 Things I wish I knew before I came to University…

So just a few more weeks and my first year fresher life will be up and I’ll be going on Summer break and coming back a second year student! My life as a fresher has had its good points and its bad points and its damn well ugly points! So I was thinking what things do I wish I had known before I came to University last September? Well…

  1. Loans and Overdrafts run out VERY quick, It’s all cool when you look into your bank balance and you see a shining beautiful sum of cash within the thousands, but believe me that runs out faster than you can blink. I discussed this a lot of the time with my friends about where our money goes when we have nothing and everyone says roughly the same thing ‘I don’t even know what it got spent on?!?!’ Many times have I withdrawn £20 and the next day it’s all gone and all I have to show for it is a packet of crisps and a basic shop? I’m not sure if there is a magical Uni overdraft stealing fairy but I wish I listened to people who warned me before I came that money goes so quickly.
  2. Pre-meeting your flatmates helps A LOT! I only met one flat mate before I moved in and we met over Facebook, but now looking back to it everyone had already met everyone by the time they got to Uni so I felt like that’s probably something I should have thought about before hand.
  3. I will be kissing goodbye the luxuries I enjoyed everyday. Now looking back I wish I didn’t take things like sweets, magazines and such for granted because now I rarely get a chance to get them because I’m so broke.
  4. Bring extra cutlery. It’s not cool when you have someone over for dinner and you only have one set of cutlery and one plate…Awkward. Plus a lot of the time people either take/steal or ‘borrow’ your kitchen ware which can get annoying as most of it never actually returns! When I first came to University we only packed like one plate, few bowls and cups and couple knives and forks but by the end of my second semester I had like one plate left in my possession. BUY EXTRA!

Well that’s a little bit more about Uni for you 🙂

3 day outfit choices: Dungarees, Floral vest and Blue silk shirt.

Okay so the weather here has been relatively sunny, if you’re reading this from abroad I live in United Kingdom in West Yorkshire. I previously lived in North London where sunshine was a common occurrence but moving up north the weather seems more unreliable and more wetter & colder! So lately this past week or so it has been mild and sunny for a change and has given me the chance to bust out some of my favourite Spring and Summer clothes! I decided I would share my outfits for the next three days with you guys because I love them 🙂

My first piece outfit is some beautifully cute dungarees I got from New Look last summer, they are baby blue and white stripes with pink roses on. I personally fell in love with them because it makes a change from the generic plain dungarees that everyone wears and jazzes them up a bit. I think the colours are perfect for Spring and Summer and I usually wear it with a vest or t-shirt underneath! 🙂
My second outfit is based around this really cute flower top, it’s made of this silk like material and is covered in lovely white flowers with go perfectly with the blue. I generally wear this top with a pair of skinny jeans and some accessories to give the easy but classy look 🙂
My final piece is a purple floral vest that I love! I love this vest because it’s perfect for when the weather is getting warmer because the material is so loose fitting and comfortable. It goes well with cardigans, jeans and skirts I’ve found and it’s a nice change from a plain vest.

Well that’s what I am planning to wear the next three days! Hope you liked that little insight 🙂 Follow/Like.

My 5 favourite items of clothing in my wardrobe

So being an avid clothes lover and fashion conscious girl, my wardrobe is jam packed full of pieces of clothing. I openly admit I do not have enough storage space so much so my partner has to keep some of my clothes in his accommodation as well! & back home in North London before Uni I was in the same situation where I had to many clothes and not enough space. So putting all these clothes to use I thought I’d share my 5 favourite items of clothing in my wardrobe with my faithful followers! 🙂

  1. My dark blue denim skinny jeans – Obvious essential and easy to wear with near enough EVERYTHING.
  2. A red embellished teddy bear jumper I picked up from a vintage fair when I first arrived at University -It’s dead cute!
  3. My Hello Kitty onesie – There is nothing better than coming home from long seminars and snuggling up in it!
  4. A Gok Wan black formal fitted shirt which my mum brought me before I came to Uni – Perfect for the formal/casual classy look.
  5. A new tunic shirt I brought from Dorothy Perkins in the sale – It’s autumn colours are beautiful and it was a bargain! WIN.

Hospital appointment, Long country walk and A view of the city skyline

Today I had my hospital appointment at 9am so I was awake really early (Something that I was only really used to back at home- now I’m just lazy), I didn’t get much sleep either so being tired made me feel horrid! Because I was up early it meant that I started my day early as well which was nice because today was warm and spring like 🙂 (Pictures at the bottom!)

After the hospital we walked all the way home which is like a 30 minute walk and then we decided that we would go on a little country walk since the weather was really nice and we had found a walking route. We started our adventure promptly, walking towards the opening of the forest walkway it looked something similar to a horror movie even despite the blissful sun, but we carried on because we were aiming to get to a beautiful viewing spot where you can see the whole city skyline!  We walked for a good 20 minutes up hill through the countryside farms until we reached a field of horses which is where I saw my first baby foal in real life – It was uber cute! Being pretty tired we stopped to take photos and admire the horses when they suddenly decided to go on a rampage and get all protective so we left quite quickly because I got scared one might jump over the fence! (I’m a big chicken)
Sometime after this we finally reached the peak of the hill and we got a beautiful view of the Leeds city skyline which is really something 🙂 My partner made a joke about the lack of skyscrapers in Leeds and it went something like this ‘There’s hardly any skyscrapers, if spider man was swinging through the city he wouldn’t get anywhere’ which made me laugh :’)

We took lots of photos and made our way back home, we were both relieved to be able to rest and I had a good 6 hour nap to replenish my tired self 🙂 Sadly I’m back at uni tomorrow for lectures/seminars but what can you do… 😦 Nearly home for Summer though just got a few more weeks to go and then I’ll be blogging about my summer at home in North London which should be exciting and different! 😀

I hope you all had a nice day, follow follow follow 🙂 See you tomorrow!
