Kimonos and Capes

So the fact that it is Autumn has taken its toll on what I wear, sadly the times of dresses, shorts and vests are long gone because the weather is bitterly cold and windy lately and lets not forget the rain! So I have been wearing items that are more warmer as well as comfier and two trends that I really love this Autumn are capes and kimonos, they are creative and colourful as well as comfy and stylish and a great autumn/winter must have!

Image

Kimonos have been in fashion this year quite a bit I don’t think the trend has died down once and I doubt it will for a long time and for a good reason, they are stylish and comfortable and that’s all we care about in the colder months. Many retailers and online stores sell some really lovely kimonos that look fantastic and I really wish I had the money to go and buy them all but sadly that’s a dream! With this in mind, capes are also very much in trend and desire, for many of the same reasons as kimonos and fortunately I am lucky enough as I brought a red and black cape last year and it is a staple wardrobe piece that I love to wear with t-shirts and jeans and all sorts of combinations!

Definitely a key piece to anyone’s wardrobe and a star buy πŸ™‚

Saturday Blogger Interviews – Tara Joy

Name: Tara Joy

Location: Florida

Age: 19

What sort of things do you blog about most: I mostly blog about product reviews, outfit posts, and some personal stuff here and there. It’s a big combination of anything and everything I feel like talking about.
Name three words to describe your blog: Relaxed, chatty, and of course, bow-filled.
When did you first start blogging: I first started blogging in May of 2012.
Why did you begin to blog: I started blogging because I needed someone to chat with about clothes, makeup, and skincare. I was definitely talking off my beau’s ear and there was only so much talk about different lipstick finishes he could handle. It was a fun idea I had toyed around with and I’m so glad I did it.
What’s one blogging tip that you would share with other potential bloggers: Don’t pay attention to the numbers. The #1 thing I couldn’t care less about is how many people follow or read what I have to say. Of course, without followers there isn’t a lot of interaction, but I don’t understand the big deal. I loved my blog at 3 followers and I still loved my blog the same at 300 followers. If you’re doing it for the numbers maybe that’s the wrong reason to.
Do you see yourself still blogging in three/five years time: Absolutely. It’s something that is more than a hobby to me. It makes me feel really connected to my girly side. I love being able to talk to people about the things that make me happy and blogging is one great way to do it.
What’s one of the best things about being a blogger: I just love the fact that we are all into talking about the same things. It’s so nice to be able to look to tons of awesome people for opinions on anything and everything you could possibly imagine. It’s a cool thing.
Has blogging helped you significantly in any other way: Blogging has helped me stay glued to the camera. I grew up wanting to be a photographer and to go to art school. Even though I’m not in art school, I like having reasons to get behind the camera and be artistic.
Name one thing that inspires you: My friends are a huge inspiration to me. Honestly, they’re all so fun loving and goofy. All of us have very different distinct senses of style and I love to mix up my own style with some add ins of theirs like graphic tees and trainers.
Share one of your favourite quotes: “Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” – Earl Nightingale

5 Songs I Am Listening To At The Moment…

So if you are like me and love music then you’ll have your summer playlist all sorted already! Music is an industry which is constantly changing and growing, I listen to a lot of different types of music and from different decades as well so this summer my list is a little bit of everything! πŸ™‚

  1. Imagine Dragons – Radioactive.
There is something I love about this song and I think it is the main chorus as it is catchy and quite powerful, it is one of those songs that make you feel a little bit more alive and powerful.
  2. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros – Home.
I love this song, it is such a happy feel good song and quite romantic too which is why I love it as well. If I am feeling down this is the first song I probably put on my iPod to listen to and I instantly feel a little better. It is also a song that is linked to me and my partner which is also nice πŸ™‚
  3. Foster The People – Pumped Up Kicks.
This song is quite different but that’s good because even still it is really catchy which is why I love listening to it. I also adore the chorus as well!
  4. The XX – Angels.
I adore this song, I love everything about it. The rhythm is slow yet so soft and the lyrics are really quite sweet and meaningful. Always puts me in a good mood πŸ™‚
  5. Muse – Animals.
I have liked a lot of different Muse songs and I liked there latest album but this is the song I enjoy the most at the moment by them πŸ™‚

If you haven’t heard any of these songs then why not try and have a listen! You may just hear your next favourite song πŸ™‚

Going Nautical This Summer

So the temperature has cranked itself way above the normal average for England and has made it perfect beach weather and what better way to shine with style at the beach than dressed in one of this summer’s favourite wardrobe trends – Nautical!

Looking like a sailor has never been so fun! In the past if you told somebody you wanted to look similar to that of a man that stays on a ship for long periods of time, you probably would’ve just got some weird looks and glances. But now thanks to marvelous world of fashion this vibrantly quirky reoccurring trend is making its debut once again!

Think anchors, ships, blazers with gold embellished buttons and stripes! Blue, red and white are the most commonly associated colour with the nautical trend and it’s such a great style to pull off because the colours are so complimenting of each other. This summer however all our favourite stores and retailers are quickly equipping nautical themed stock, there will be a mass of our favourite clothing pieces mixed with this quirky and fun style and will be sure to bring the sailor out of you!

NOTD – Nail Paint In Cyan Blue (294) By Barry M Review

I wasn’t very interested in painting my nails until I got into secondary school when it was key to always have brightly coloured and vibrant nails, I never really took an interest in Barry M until then and I didn’t really like the brand to start with as I thought it was too runny and didn’t dry quick enough but now years later I am happily buying Barry M nail varnishes with a smile on my face because I love the colours and types! πŸ™‚

So the other week I brought another Barry M nail varnish because I was complaining that I didn’t have any summer colours in my nail varnish collection! So I went and I brought cyan blue which is a light blue but not too light that it turns into a pastel blue.

I love this colour because it is so light and summery, I like blues as well which is probably why I picked it πŸ™‚

Skin Care Product Reviews – Freederm Sensitive Facial Wash & Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all having an excellent summer and are making the most of the little bit of sun we are having here in England! For my abroad readers, England is usually very rainy and cold but lately we have had such hot weather which is a lovely change!

I know I have not been blogging as much as I usually would and that’s because I have been rather busy and thus not had the time to blog as much but on the positive side that means I have more to blog about and reviews to post because it has been a while! yay πŸ™‚

So I thought I would start with a skin care post about some items that I have recently brought and review the good and bad points of each of them. So lets start…

  1. Freederm Sensitive Facial Wash For Spot Prone Skin 150ml
So when I brought this face wash I had very high expectations because I have always heard such good things about the brand Freederm. So I chose this face wash as I was having a bit of a spot issue! The wash itself is quite nice, definitely not thick in consistence or weight in hand and it also smooths easily over your face which is great.
The face wash itself is pink and looks similar to the hair gel! This face wash is meant to control excess oil and also deeply cleanse pores, I think personally it does work quite well but it’s nothing much different from other facial washes sadly.
  2. Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash Skin Balancing CleanserΒ I actually got this face wash as a freebie with a magazine which I was happy about, it is a brand that is gaining more and more credibility so I was quite happy to get this freebie. The wash states for normal to combination skin and is 98.8% from natural origins which is great for the environment and very naturally healthy for your skin because there are more or less no chemicals or harmful substances in this face wash unlike many other brands. The actual ingredients of the face wash are spruce knot, rice bran oil, frankincense, ylang ylang and grapefruit which is quite a natural mixture of things.
When I tried the wash for the first time it felt quite creamy and personally I hated the smell of it! But I still use it, I believe it works nicely on my skin and just rejuvenates my skin that bit more.

Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint (Pomegranate 319) By Barry M

I love painting my nails like many of the thousands of other girls and ladies out there in the world who do too and it is always a constant hard decision about which nail varnish to choose and what shade to wear!

With all different colours and effects coming out on the market everyday I see nail polish and varnish that I adore a lot and would love to have, but of course I cant buy every single one. So the other day I decided to buy Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Pomegranate 319 because I had heard such good reviews about Gelly Hi-Shine on other bloggers pages and such so I thought why not! πŸ™‚

I love the colour, it is a vibrant pink which comes out looking dark but in natural light it looks very bright and to stop mine chipping I put two coats on because I find that stops nails chipping so easily when you do not have any glossy coats to apply.

I use to dislike Barry M a few years ago because I found their nail varnishes to be quite runny but in the last year I have brought quite a few as they’re becoming a quick favourite of mine! I certainly would wear this shade again as I think it is a great summery hint πŸ™‚

So it’s the beginning of the month June & so far it’s been rather sunny and wonderful, so I thought I would do a little post about June so far! πŸ™‚ I have been happily sunbathing with my partner and also just spending some time working on my blog, although I have a little bit of writers block at the moment 😦 I have great ideas but just can’t seem to concentrate enough to write posts, which sucks! The 30 Day Crunch Challenge

So I decided to attempt the 30 day crunch challenge, something which has been circulating the internet for some time now and after reading reviews from celebrities and other girls saying it worked I thought I might as well give it a go!

Crunches are basically sit ups and this is to tone and build your stomach muscles, something which I particularly want to do in preparation for Summer. So I will attach the picture below for the amount of crunches you need to do each day, I am currently on day 3 so tomorrow is my day of rest luckily! But I can definitely feel it working already, my tummy muscles are starting to get tighter and I can see a change as well in before I started and 3 days in already.

Lately I feel as if I need and want to get fitter so I spent ages trying to find something, I didn’t want to diet or do some crazy detox so I think for now I will stick with exercise which is always good and healthy. So I will let you know how I am progressing with that (or if I give up!) and hopefully after day 30 I will have a toned tum! πŸ˜€

Where Have I Been Hiding & Journey To Be A Fashion Journalist Updates!

ieiertΒ Β gregf

Hey Everyone!

So as you may have realized I haven’t been posting as much as I usually do and that’s because I have had quite a hectic but positive week! For those of you that follow my blog for updates on my journey to become a fashion journalist, well I have some little updates for you! Firstly I am now writing for another two new magazines who have a large readership so that’s quite exciting, not to mention one of the magazines is also American which is a great way for me to expand my experience in journalism and magazines globally.

So now I write for 4 magazines, some on a weekly basis and others on a monthly basis which is fine by me as I love writing and the flexibility fits in great with my life! So my fashion and journalism experience is adding up now so I made a mini list so you can see what I have accomplished this month:

  • Becoming a Fashion Ambassador for Fashion156.com
  • Writing for another British based magazine
  • Writing for an American based magazine
  • I have done my first ever model photo shoot in 1960’s and 1980’s vintage clothing
  • Completed lots of promotional exchanges with many online stores

Well moving on, I have finished my first year of University a week ago and traveled home for Summer break so I have been catching up with my family back in North London so I haven’t been posting much! But now I am starting to post more often, so bare with me guys! πŸ™‚

I have been reading endless Vogue and ELLE magazines lately, I never use to buy them because they were quite pricey but now I am just starting to read them and I love the content. I also went into my local library and I found the March Issue of Vogue for 30p! So I brought that as it was a bargain.Image
