A typical British stereotype

So I thinking about the traditional generic British stereotypes that many people think of when thinking of Britain, I found this quite funny because most of the time I don’t do any of these things that most people associate with British folk which made me laugh 🙂 So I thought I’d Google the most generic British stereotypes and talk about them! Enjoy! 🙂

  • We all LOVE tea? Okay the truth is I love tea I really do, there is nothing better than a nice cup of tea made just perfectly! 🙂 However this is not true as well because many people hate tea or prefer coffee or hate them both in fact!
  • We all speak like the Queen? No not at all, there are various dialects all over the Britain such as Geordie, Lancastrian, Scouse, Brummie, Yorkshire but however down the South you do find dialects become more like received pronunciation also known as the Queens English, so no we don’t all sound like the Queen although some people may have a dialect somewhere similar.
  • We love our fish ‘n’ chips? I don’t account for the whole of Britain but I love fish and chips, well not the fish because I don’t eat fish so I just like the chips 🙂 I guess a lot of people love fish and chips, but we love many other dishes as well.
  • We are snobby? I think this is a generalization, I know many people who are down to earth and friendly but there are people that are snobby as well but were not all snobs 🙂
  • We all have yellow teeth? This made me laugh the most, I know lots of people with brilliant white teeth and some with yellowing teeth but not every one has yellow teeth!
  • We are charming and suave? I think this is very generalized as well, not everyone is charming and suave but you’ll meet people who are and then you’ll meet people who definitely are not too!
  • We say cheerio and cor blimey? I have never said these things and probably wont ever. Although maybe there are still some people who say these things who knows?
  • We all love the royal family? Many people do love the royal family in Britain however many don’t as well its a split divide I guess, it depends on who you’re talking to.
  • It always rains and were always miserable? Yes! It rains a lot! but we get some sunny days too sometimes and were not always miserable! 🙂

Well I think that’s enough for now, hopefully didn’t offend anyone because nothing was meant to be offensive! It was just me shedding some light on British stereotypes in a playful way 🙂

The reason I posted late, The contents of my make up bag and Another Job Interview!

So I haven’t blogged in a few days and that’s because I have been unintentionally busy! As you all know I had a job interview in the Easter holidays which is why I had to stay up north, I passed the interview with flying colours and got hired only to finally start my first day on Wednesday and it was CRAZY! Let me fill you in…

So after searching endlessly for a job I found one and got it so I thought this was going to be the start of something great, I thought I’d love it and I would work loads happily and get lots of moneeeey! (An essential for a student) HOWEVER… it wasn’t as it seemed, my day started out rushed and I got thrown into the deep end because the store was overly busy and packed. With a smile on my face I carried on with hopes that it would get better, I had 2 hours of going through the safety and fire booklet with a manager making jokes about all the safety precautions…this didn’t bother me to much but next to me were two girls openly talking about me?! I was in disbelief, I was sat right next to them, oh well continuing the story anyway…
Putting on a brave face I continued and once the precautions and safety talk was finally over I got my uniform, had to put it on in a smelly tiny dirty toilet hobbling around on one leg trying to get my balance so I didn’t put my foot in this ‘water’ that looked suspiciously like urine on the floor. Once my uniform was on I got taken up stairs and put on the shop floor where I was given my equipment and expected to know what I was doing, I felt intimidated to say the least and I kept clock checking my whole ‘training day’ (A.K.A Basically my first shift). This and the fact most customers were angry made a horrible concoction for a first day 😦

So all in all, I left my job. I simply cannot stay where I feel out of place, I would rather work somewhere I love so that I enjoy going to work 🙂 The positive side to this story is that I got another interview next week on Tuesday for a big fashion retailer that I wanted, so I just hope that my interview goes well 🙂 – Wish me luck!

Anyway I brought some new make up bits the other day, I brought a Collection 2000 Colour Pout Lastin Lip Stain in 2 Kiss and Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer in 1 Fair (Because I am rather pale) and that gives 16 hours wear! Also this week I have painted my nails in Maybelline New York Forever Strong Professional 202 Really Rosy.
I also thought it would be good if I revealed my secret make up bag utensils and essentials, I tend to go for the barely there/natural look a lot of the time and the only thing I really emphasize is my eyelashes because they are quite small…(May seem like ALOT of mascara but that’s because I need to clear out my old ones!)
