Uni, fashion journalism & blogging!

Hello, Bonjour, Konnichiwa, nǐ hǎo, Guten Tag, Hallo!

So I have been gone a long time and haven’t posted in a while, however I am back and I am hoping that this summer I will get time to blog quite a bit so fingers crossed! Since I haven’t blogged in a while, I think you all deserve a reasonable explanation and that is because last month I had an incredibly difficult amount of university work due in the same week and it meant a lot of hours staying up till the morning, barely eating and being overly tired 😦 Luckily however now I have finished my university work and my second year at university and I am home for summer!

Before I broke up for summer I was planning on doing quite a lot of things this year and I am still hoping to do them at some point like first aid and learning to drive but something which I have been thinking about more lately is my old dream of becoming a fashion journalist. For those of you who were with me from the beginning, you’ll remember I wanted to be a fashion journalist and I put all my time and effort into juggling my university work and writing for various magazines, in total I wrote over 30 articles published both online and in print format so that was successful for me however eventually it all got a bit much and I couldn’t juggle the two much longer, so I gave up writing for magazines and at this point I was writing for at least 6 or 7 different upcoming or amateur magazines so it was a lot to give up after working so hard on it but it had to be done. After a long long long break of not writing, lately I have been looking into getting back into the fashion world! I want to write articles again, so I went and started writing for some of the ones I use to write for but now I am looking into other areas of fashion as well which might be interesting like photography and styling (I don’t know if I’d be any good but that’s why you learn and try!).

I’m not completely sure which direction I want to go into for my future career but there is three different industries I am thinking about which is fashion, teaching or health care and I have routes planned for all of them – so we will all have to wait and see what next year holds 🙂

Other than that, I’ve been worrying a lot about various things like finances and health, but I am still smiling so that’s good! 🙂

Well I hope you’re all well and I am back now!

Hello, Bonjour, Konnichiwa, Hola! March/April Catch Up

Image

So for this little post I thought that I would sum up the beginning of this month & last month in a little collage because it’s cute,
I love to see little collages on other’s blogs because I like to see the little photo’s they choose and what they represent!

So from top left going right we have 1. Me in glasses! I went to the opticians and I found out I need glasses for reading  2. Me and my partner went for a walk around the local park and he brought me a portion of traditional chips (The kind you get at the seaside! which I love love love!) so that was super nice 3. A really lovely quote that I need to start listening to because I worry to much over the past and to much over the future 4. A little photo of me and my partner messing around 5. A photo of a ladybird I took whilst I was walking home 6. Daffodils! I love them especially because they’re all in bloom this time of year 7. A photo from my partner’s 20th birthday! 8. Another little picture of the park (Excuse the watermark, I’m working on it!) that we walk around sometimes for a nice break of fresh air and finally 9. NANDO’S! we went to nando’s for my partners birthday and it was amazing as usual, I really love nando’s particularly the chicken wrap! 🙂

So that’s my little update, how have you all been? Is there anything you like specifically in this post then let me know in the comments 🙂

So I noticed that Mr.Nutcase were looking for bloggers to review their phone cases and I had to step up because 1.I love reviews & 2. I love my phone so it seemed like a good idea, after emailing I received a friendly reply with a code for me to create my own personal phone case to review for all my lovely followers! The website is easy to use and colourful with a nice little squirrel adorning the front page, you can choose various phone case types to tailor to your taste and an array of different layouts for the chosen picture(s) you want to put on the case.

So this was mine!

On my case I decided to have some snapshots of my partner, parents and nieces & nephews – I have a large family so I had to narrow it down but I really loved the quality of the case, it’s sturdy and protective and the colour and quality of it is impeccable.

Kimonos and Capes

So the fact that it is Autumn has taken its toll on what I wear, sadly the times of dresses, shorts and vests are long gone because the weather is bitterly cold and windy lately and lets not forget the rain! So I have been wearing items that are more warmer as well as comfier and two trends that I really love this Autumn are capes and kimonos, they are creative and colourful as well as comfy and stylish and a great autumn/winter must have!

Image

Kimonos have been in fashion this year quite a bit I don’t think the trend has died down once and I doubt it will for a long time and for a good reason, they are stylish and comfortable and that’s all we care about in the colder months. Many retailers and online stores sell some really lovely kimonos that look fantastic and I really wish I had the money to go and buy them all but sadly that’s a dream! With this in mind, capes are also very much in trend and desire, for many of the same reasons as kimonos and fortunately I am lucky enough as I brought a red and black cape last year and it is a staple wardrobe piece that I love to wear with t-shirts and jeans and all sorts of combinations!

Definitely a key piece to anyone’s wardrobe and a star buy 🙂

Cultural Fashion From Around The World Appreciation

So I was thinking how much the media only really ever concentrates on Western style and fashion when in fact there are some amazingly beautiful cultural pieces from around the world that I think should be appreciated more and deserve the time to be on my post.

In many different countries there are special or religious pieces of clothing that have a significant meaning behind them and in some countries they dress in certain pieces of clothing as part of their cultural identity which I believe we should see more with regards to fashion instead of it just being Western dominated, so without further ado here is my little blog post on some beautiful cultural fashion I found on the internet 🙂 I found some of these great photo’s from a really lovely blog called http://universalbeauty.tumblr.com/ which I recommend taking a look at as well!

I love all these pieces of clothing featured in these photos, each item is special or beautiful in many ways and I love the colourful and pretty designs as well – Hope you like them tool! 🙂

Who Says Maternity Wear Can’t Be Fashionable?

Okay I am not pregnant but I have noticed a lot of people explaining that they cannot find anything fashionable to wear whilst pregnant, however this is not true as there are many colourful and beautiful pieces out there for mothers to be to wear! I am writing this post for my sister in law in Japan who is expecting my to be niece or nephew! I know she likes to read my blog posts and has said she loves fashion as well so I thought I would write a special maternity post 🙂

Expecting a child is beautiful and you should feel beautiful too whilst you are expecting! If you love fashion then there is tons of options, such as the midi dress it comes in all shapes and sizes which is perfect because most retailers do special maternity midi dresses that still accentuate your bodies curves and are not to restrictive on your little baby bump. Also a great buy is loose fitting blouses and shirts which show elegance and beauty whilst still being comfortable.

As well as this tunics are often a good choice pick for mothers to be as they are flattering and come in a range of patterns and colours as well as being comfortable and easy to wear. When you’re expecting you want maximum comfort with a splash of fashion to make the perfect outfit if you love fashion and these two examples are great to go by! I personally would not wear high heels if you are quite heavily pregnant as I would swap them for comfy fashionable flat pumps or canvas shoes 🙂

Hope you all enjoyed this and to all expecting mothers to be congratulations! 🙂 Follow or subscribe!

The Day I Held An Owl And 4 Other Things I’ve Completed On My Bucket List Already!

So if you’ve read my previous post about 15 random things on my bucket list I want to do then this is like a little part 2 if you will, this is 5 random things I have already completed on my bucket list already! Enjoy 🙂

  • Hold an owl – Bit of a random one I’ll admit but I got to hold an owl and although I was a little wary it was ADORABLE! They were rescue owls so he had previously had a bad life but he was called sunny and he loved cuddles! (Photo Below)
  • Go to Japan – So in April 2011 we went to Japan to visit my brother for a week, since this was one of the countries on my long list of places to travel I got to tick that off!
  • See a shooting star – Okay so this was a one in a million chance and happened at random but it was a magical experience I wont forget, it happened back home near London when I was at a bus stop seeing my partner home when we both looked up and saw a shooting star! Sounds like something out of a movie which is why I love it! 🙂
  • Get a significant tattoo – So in June 2012 I decided I was going to get a significant tattoo and it would be my first tattoo as well so this was special too for me at least.
  • Learn finger sign language – This is something I am quite proud of that whilst I have been at University I have taught myself finger sign language, which I think is always useful.

That’s a small snippet of 5 random things I have completed already on my bucket list – Hope you enjoyed! 🙂
