A slightly vast collection of beauty products!

Hi everyone!

So in this post I thought that I would cover a few recent items I have bought over the last few weeks and haven’t had chance to review yet, so with this in mind I thought I would squish a few in one post to make it more digestible! 🙂

Bioré Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser –

This was a good buy although rather pricey for a cleanser in my opinion as I tend to go for cheaper ones and I think this was like £4-5, although I am super happy with it because it does clean my face well and leaves it fresh and doesn’t dry it out. As for the blemish fighting/complexion clearing side to it, I believe this actually has worked! I have noticed my skin has been a lot better recently after using this for just over a week or so. This is also my first Bioré experience and product as I haven’t ever bought anything from the range before but I can say I will be certainly looking for other products within the range to use after this one!

Good Things Manuka Honey Daily Moisturiser Youth Protect –

This little moisturiser was a impulse buy from boots, it contains royal jelly and bee venom apparently and is free from parabens, sodium laureth sulphate and mineral oils. I primarily bought it because I needed a new moisturiser and I had products before that have contained bee venom and they’ve been really wonderful so I thought this would be the same and it is. It smells like a bit pot of honey and milk and leaves my skin feeling really soft and fresh, which is great!

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Serum –

So this was probably one of the most pricey things I have bought, I have been looking for a serum for a long time that works really well and is effective however in today’s market mostly all serums are above £10 at least which is a little bit of pain considering most of them come in tiny tubs or tubes! However I really like this serum, you only need a little tiny bit in my opinion to cover the whole face generously and it smells like fruit as well which is a bonus. This and the Bioré face cleanser could be the reason my skin is looking so much better recently because before using these two products my skin looked and felt dry and dull but now I can safely say it is spot free (touch-wood no jinxing!) and soft. Again I’ve never used any of the Nip + Fab products but they’re definitely something I am going to look into long term.

Boots Essentials Cucumber Moisturising Lotion –

I already mentioned one moisturiser however I bought this one when I realised my other moisturisers haven’t got any sun protection in! I have been going jogging a lot lately and the sun has made its return, so I thought that it was best to maybe get a moisturiser with some protection in it and this one has UVA & UVB protection of all skins types and it was mega cheap so win win!

Nearly blonde! A cautionary tale of attempting to go blonde…

For a long time I had been trying to decide whether I wanted to be blonde or have pastel pink hair or do all sorts of jazzy stuff with my locks, it is a fact that I can’t leave my hair alone for a long period of time cause I just get bored!

(Warning – It’s rather a long post but it does have some cute gifs!)

Image
(Source)

So from the top lets begin! I have brown hair (there are probably a billion shades of brown hair and I could try and find my shade but it’ll take to long so let’s just go with brown for now) and I decided on a whim that I wanted my hair to be lighter for summer and I was thinking of pastel pink or maybe trying blonde out. I had spent days and days online reading reviews of bleaching kits, highlighting kits, dyes, toners, you name it I read a post on it! But I finally decided to go to blonde or at least try, so I went and brought the much raved about BLEACH London total bleaching kit and I brought two because apparently the mixture in one box was a small proportion and wouldn’t cover all my hair as other bloggers had stated in the reviews I read so I followed the advice that I’d most likely need two boxes. I had to then make the choice of what shade of blonde I wanted to be and I eventually decided I wanted to be a golden blonde or a little darker than platinum so I also brought the Jerome Russell BBlonde Champagne blonde toner as well!

Image

So onto the main event! I bleached my hair which is one of the most hardest tasks ever even with an extra pair of hands, luckily my partner was on hand to help me out but nevertheless it was a hard task. After bleaching my hair my head was stinging and I had a while to kill while the bleach was doing its thing, after I washed it out I saw that it was gingery blonde so I put in the toner following the instructions and waited for that to do its business too.

Washing out the toner I was super excited to see my lovely blonde hair BUT to my horror it was blonde on top and gingery blonde towards the bottom, it wasn’t a big deal that it was two shades but it was mighty obvious when I stepped outside in the light and it looked ghastly! (It was like platinum white, sunshine yellow + tangerine orange with a bit of browny blonde thrown it – what a lovely mixture right?)

Image

In the end I was thinking of buying more toner to make it one shade but this was becoming a very expensive endeavour and I had been missing my brown hair a lot so I decided to dye my hair brown once again and luckily I had a ‘golden brown’ hair dye at hand at home and chucked that on today and it came out a nice light browny colour which is great! But it has made me realise not to attempt this again and if I do then do it professionally at least, but for those of you wondering about the condition of my hair it is perfectly conditioned and healthy still! 🙂

As for the products I used I’ll add a mini bit in about them as I did want this to be a normal post not a review but the BLEACH London total bleaching kit seems to be over hyped in my opinion, it’s just like any other bleach in the sense that it does smell, it does sting and it does dry out your hair despite the reviews I read where others said it didn’t the only positive really is that it is a little cheaper and the box is quite snazzy however I also got within my BLEACH London kit a conditioning reincarnation hair mask tube which you can buy separate anyway and this is wonderful for your hair if you’ve dyed it – definitely worth purchasing!

On the other hand the Jerome Russell BBlonde Champagne toner did its job to an extent, it did remove brassy tones and gingery yellow bits but not all of it as well as this it is a very darkish blonde so if you’re looking for a light blonde or platinum I wouldn’t recommend this one specifically.

Well anyway that is that and I hope you enjoyed reading this little tale and had a good laugh or it helped you in anyway! 🙂

Argan Dew Replenishing Hair Mask & Miraculous Argan Oil Samples review*

So the lovely Marine over at Argan Dew emailed and said I could review some of their Argan Dew samples! I naturally was super happy about this because I love trying new things on my hair, it really has been through the works with bleaching and dying etc and a little tender loving care wouldn’t go a miss right now so I was happy to review the samples naturally! 🙂 I had heard a lot of good things about Argan oil originally and I have always been keen to give it a go!

I got sent a little package and inside was some samples of Argan Dew Replenishing Hair Mask and some samples of the Argan Dew Miraculous Argan Oil. Now firstly the Argan Dew Replenishing Hair Mask states that it will restore your hair’s natural beauty and health whilst the Argan Dew Miraculous Argan Oil Daily Hair Treatment says on the sample packet that it will protect and restore your hair’s natural shine and vitality – all things my poor hair needs right now!

Overall the samples were a pleasure to use, they smelt AMAZING! and were not thick or greasy at all which is something that is important to me when I use any sort of hair treatment. I have nearly ran out of the samples as I used them very frequently because I did notice a difference in my hair, it looked and felt much more stronger and silkier which was great!

A big thank you to Marine and the people over at Argan Dew for the quality samples! Take a look at their website or social networks if you want to know more!

Schwarzkopf Got2B Beach Matte Mermaid Look Texturizing Salt Spray review!

Such a long title! however I decided to do a little review on a product that I recently got back in January because I’ve been using it more lately so thought I would share 🙂

I got this when I was back at home and trifling through sainsburys and noticed it on the shelf, I love it when my hair is curly and I love it even more if I can curl it naturally rather than using curling tongs! So I thought I would try this little spray that claims ‘Beach Matte Mermaid Look’ and I when I was reading the bottle I thought “Oooh how interesting!”.

Initially what led me to buying this was 1. The design of the bottle (haha I love nicely designed bottles and such!) and 2. The promise of ‘beachy waves’ so I thought why not lets give it a go! Now were are past the descriptive part lets move on to the review part…

The spray itself smells lovely, it’s obviously salt spray as it states on the front of the bottle and I know sometimes salt spray can dry out your hair but this spray doesn’t do that, my hair feels super soft afterwards still! Further to this the spray is light and works with a blow dryer or just spraying and going outdoors and letting the wind do its business, so I’d say it was a good buy 🙂

My 5 Most Favourite Shampoos you must try!

Okay so I never use to really care about my hair until a certain stage in my life when I really enjoyed styling and spending time on my hair looking nice. Now it is a constant regime and I need to always make sure I find some really good shampoos and conditioners to use on my hair, ones which will not make them greasy or to fine.
So I thought I would share my top 5 favourite shampoos I have tried and love still and see what you think!

  1. Aussie Colour Mate/Beach Mate/Miracle Moist
This brand has always allured me to it! If it wasn’t so expensive I would buy the whole range…I love this brand because all of the shampoos I have tried all smell so delightful and beautiful. Not only do these products by Aussie smell good the shampoos really work and they make my hair feel so much more clean and nicer afterwards as well as using quality ingredients!
  2. VO5 Plump It Up
Well if you saw my blog post about a week ago it was on the VO5 Plump Me Up shampoo I purchased. I love it because it feels like my hair actually has some volume to it (I have fine hair!) and its weightless as well meaning it doesn’t feel overly bulky or leave residue in your hair afterwards.
  3. Lee Stafford Poker Straight
Now this was one of the first ‘designer’ salon sort of shampoos I tried in my teenage years, the bottle was party pink and everything lured me towards it the description, the colour and definitely the smell! There’s many reasons why this is on my list, for starters it’s not as expensive as you may believe and it is reasonably cheap for a salon designer shampoo, secondly it smells amazing! and thirdly it makes your hair less frizzy – so a definite win!
  4. Herbal Essences Uplifting Volume
Like I said I have fine hair which can be a pain sometimes, however very rarely I come across a shampoo which actually does what it says and gives an uplifting weightless look, till I tried this one!
  5. Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil And Creamy Aloe
When I was at university I couldn’t afford the good stuff 😦 So after some looking around in some other beauty and hair shops I found this, it was different and I thought it would give my hair a boost and revitalize it a little! The formula is not too thick, smells good and cleans hair thoroughly not to mention it always made my hair soft as well which I loved! Also great if you want to try and grow your hair as well 🙂

Let me know what you think! 🙂

Hair Care Product Reviews – Schwarzkopf Got2B 2 Sexy Big Volume Push Up Volumizing Hairspray & VO5 Plump It Up Shampoo

I am really fussy when it comes to my hair, I have tried a thousand different hair care products since my early teens things like overnight creams, serums, leave on masks, gels, hairsprays, conditioners and shampoos. It’s very rare that actually find something that I like and it works, so I decided to write a blog post on my latest hair care buys because I love them! 🙂

  1. Schwarzkopt Got2B 2 Sexy Big Volume Push Up Volumizing Hairspray
Now this hairspray is one of my favourites and for a good reason, unlike other hairsprays it is not overly thick and heavy, it is pretty weightless and makes your hair feel like it has no hairspray in at all but still keeps the style which is great!
Another high point of this hairspray is that is smells AMAZING! It smells like a mixture of strawberries and raspberries and I love it. Although for a can of hair spray it is quite expensive (Usually more than £2.50 but less than £5 in different places) but its worth it if you want good looking hair.
  2. VO5 Plump It Up Shampoo
VO5 has always been a brand of shampoo that I have always quite admired and that is because I think they produce some damn good shampoo’s and conditioners! I brought this one the other day because I really wanted a good shampoo that uplifted my hair and made it more stronger and also voluminous. Many hair care brands promise to make your hair more bouncy, stronger, luscious and such but hardly any actually produce such a good product which does what it says. but this one does exactly what it states and that’s why I love it.
Not only does it give body and boost for fine or flat looking hair it also has heat defence which is perfect for me as I use straighteners or curlers a lot!  I noticed my hair was fuller and more thicker after using it just once the first time so it’s a definite win 🙂

Saturday Blogger Interviews – Blogger Trina

Image

Name: Trina

Location: NY, NY

Age: 22(23 on 5/22!)

Twitter: @trinawears

What three things do you blog about most:  I blog about music(every Monday), fashion and skincare!

Name three words to describe your blog: Three words I would use would be versatile, fashionable, and eclectic!

When did you first start blogging: Oh man, I’ve had several blogs throughout the years but never kept up with it until now! I started this blog in November, but I say January because that’s when I began to take it seriously.

Why did you begin to blog: I absolutely love blogs and I read them daily, and I wanted to have a creative outlet to show the things that I love!

What’s one blogging tip that you would share with other potential bloggers: Be yourself! If you plan to blog for attention, or products, or anything other than loving what you’re doing, it will fail to be fun or rewarding and you’ll eventually stop.
*bonus tip* Find the blogging community on twitter and talk to people! It makes blogging so much fun!

Do you see yourself still blogging in three/five years time: Definitely. For the first time, I honestly love my blog and I’m so excited to continue!

What’s one of the best things about being a blogger: The community, hands down! I’ve made new friends and had SO much fun doing it and sharing my blog with other bloggers!

Has blogging helped you significantly in any other way: It’s given me a hobby, which I felt for so long I had no hobby and felt like I had nothing “cool” to do on my spare time. This is so different than any other hobby my friends have and I love that as well.

Bleaching gone wrong, Horrible hair and A perfect spring day

Sorry I never got to blog last night, there was just to much chaos! I decided to bleach my ombre tips again but got a little too adventurous and decided to see what I’d look like if I bleached my hair blonde – Bad move. (I’ll post before and after pictures and things below! Have a lovely day!)

So late last night I sat on my bedroom floor mixing my peroxide and bleach powder together, I couldn’t remember the exact measurements so (this is bad!) I guesstimated them…after applying this to the ends of my hair with pleasing results I decided to be spontaneous and then apply it to my whole head which was terrible to say the least.
Despite the itching burning scalp I had, I survived the time span and then went to wash this disaster off – the results were not what I wanted or expected…my roots were platinum blonde following this down, my hair became golden blonde and then ginger and then reddish brown and I was like ‘Oh what have I done, I’m so stupid, I’ll never have beautiful hair again’ that whole fiasco.
So what did I do? I decide to bleach it once more with a little positive spirit in me, but then it comes out pretty much the same and straw like…urgh. So I cried on my bed for ages and then decided that I’d get up really early the next morning (today) to go buy a hair dye to cover it after watching continuous YouTube how to videos.

I wore a hat all the way to town and back to avoid being embarrassed 😦 but when I got in I dyed it immediately, which I know is risky because A. my hair might not take so well and go green or some other random colour as the internet warned me and B. I’m damaging my hair to a crazy point but anything is better than having terrible hair so I brought a dye and took another chance! Final result….My hair is a beautiful natural brown colour and I’m happy with how it looks now 🙂 perfect for Spring! Because my hair was damaged badly I brought an Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstruction Deep Conditioner sachet (Because I’m a student and can’t afford the actual bottle) which I put on afterwards and now my hair is shiny and restored partly. But I’ve decided now that I’m not going to use bleach anymore, I’m just going to look after my hair as it is 🙂

Well now you’ve heard about that fiasco, If you’re still reading thankyou! Today was a really beautiful sunny warm spring day (Something that isn’t often up north-believe me) and I saw some cute daffodils which are my favourite flower next to roses 😀 So I’m in the spring mind set now 🙂 p.s. I read a uber cute article about an elderly man that has become a fashion icon!
