Where Have I Been Hiding & Journey To Be A Fashion Journalist Updates!

ieiert  gregf

Hey Everyone!

So as you may have realized I haven’t been posting as much as I usually do and that’s because I have had quite a hectic but positive week! For those of you that follow my blog for updates on my journey to become a fashion journalist, well I have some little updates for you! Firstly I am now writing for another two new magazines who have a large readership so that’s quite exciting, not to mention one of the magazines is also American which is a great way for me to expand my experience in journalism and magazines globally.

So now I write for 4 magazines, some on a weekly basis and others on a monthly basis which is fine by me as I love writing and the flexibility fits in great with my life! So my fashion and journalism experience is adding up now so I made a mini list so you can see what I have accomplished this month:

  • Becoming a Fashion Ambassador for Fashion156.com
  • Writing for another British based magazine
  • Writing for an American based magazine
  • I have done my first ever model photo shoot in 1960’s and 1980’s vintage clothing
  • Completed lots of promotional exchanges with many online stores

Well moving on, I have finished my first year of University a week ago and traveled home for Summer break so I have been catching up with my family back in North London so I haven’t been posting much! But now I am starting to post more often, so bare with me guys! 🙂

I have been reading endless Vogue and ELLE magazines lately, I never use to buy them because they were quite pricey but now I am just starting to read them and I love the content. I also went into my local library and I found the March Issue of Vogue for 30p! So I brought that as it was a bargain.Image

My Outfit Of The Day – First Day Back At Home

Today was my first day being back at home, I must admit it was super nice to wake up in my double bed in my house and feel at home! I haven’t been home for about 4 months now as I have been away at University in Leeds as you would’ve known if you’re a constant follower of mine! 🙂 I’ve missed being at home and missed seeing my family, but I thought to mark the occasion of me being back at home I will write a little post about my outfit of the day today!

Me and my parents went to town and just went to Costa to grab a coffee and catch up so today I wore:

  • My blue skinny jeans
  • My tan boots
  • My leather black jacket
  • A mustard dark brown fitted jumper with cute shoulder buttons!
  • My new handbag – which is beautiful 🙂

It was super sunny today so the picture is a little bright, but that’s my overall outfit of the day for a casual day out 🙂

Hope you all are having a lovely day!

Five Things I Won’t Miss When I Leave University Halls

So this July I am moving into our new apartment for our second year at University and to say I am excited is an understatement! Halls has been a roller coaster of crazy times, there was times when I played pranks, times when my flatmates drove me insane, times when we all argued over the cleanliness of the flat, so now it is coming to end I decided to share ten things I definitely won’t be missing! 🙂

  1. The sound of my flatmates playing their guitars at like 2am in the morning or watching a film on full volume in the early hours of the morning.
  2. The arguments over who takes the bin out because it gets left so long the person who has to take it out has to make at least two trips from our 3rd floor flat to the bins.
  3. Walking up and down three flights of stairs everyday.
  4. Not having enough space to keep my clothes or things because my room is so tiny!
  5. People stealing my food, it’ll be great to be able to go shopping for food and actually eat what I buy.

So that’s five small things I am rather looking forward to not being in halls, hope you enjoyed it 🙂

Trends And Styles From Coachella 2013

Coachella is one of the biggest, brightest and voluminous events around, with live music and fashion statements at every step we can gather a lot about the upcoming Summer fashion this year that’s to be expected as thousands take style tips and fashion collaborations from the annual music festival goers – Me included!

You may have seen some photos flowing around the internet of brightly dressed festival goers of all ages sporting some unique and different style trends, well Coachella is a big hit with fashion mad people as it is a place to flaunt your best outfits and what you can throw together in a creative and imaginative way.

So what were the upcoming trends at Coachella? Well many people want that carefree casual festival style and clothing such as ironic T-shirts with crazy creative slogans, long sheer skirts and bright incandescent make up with a mix match of accessories from knee high socks teamed with comfy converse to heeled studded boots and hats ranging from flat caps to beanies seem to be favourites at this years Coachella judging by the pictures and reviews you see online.

Coachella is the ultimate place to look the part and one of the best places to gather fashion inspiration from fellow attendees, but from Coachella we can learn that clothing this Summer will be bright, vibrant, innovative and definitely intense and will come in a range of patterns such as rainbow, tribal, aztec and monochrome to mention a few favourites this year, ooooh I’m excited! 😀

Make Up Academy Nail Varnish In Plum Noir Mini Review

My sister gave me this nail polish a while back and at first I was skeptical because I am not a big fan of dark colours, so I left trying it on for a while however yesterday I painted my nails in this shade. Regretfully some of my nails chipped and broke after I had been growing them for so long so it resulted in me filing them down! 😦 So in the photo they look a little short apologies in advance! But anyway I was pleasantly pleased with this nail polish, it only required two coats for maximum shine and colour which is great because I hate nail polishes where I have to apply like 10 coats just to achieve my half desired look…

Adding to the wonderful features of this little pot is the fact it dries quickly! I don’t usually trust nail varnishes that do not state they dry quickly because I presume they’ll take forever, but even though this one doesn’t state it dries quickly it actually does! Miracle! 🙂 The brush makes easy application as well and it’s a handy hand bag size for when you need it in emergencies.

Overall this was an excellent cute nail varnish that surprised me to say the least and it will give you nails that look like they’ve just been freshly picked off the plum tree 😀 well worth a shot! 🙂

My Journey To Become A Fashion Journalist…

So as you all know I want to be a fashion journalist rather badly, I’m not the type of girl who says it and doesn’t do my research first. Personally I have skills when it comes to researching in depth! But so a while ago I got into writing articles, I started small just writing them for my university online newspaper bearing in mind this is the first time I had ever wrote an article. Now it’s taken some time for my writing style and ability to develop but that first stepping stone of writing my first article for my University newspaper led me to writing more and more, getting good responses and views I found that I had a secret talent for writing.

I am an ambitious girl and tend to think of things I want to do or accomplish that is quite difficult and this being one of them, being a fashion journalist is a lot harder than it’s believed to be and to actually break into the industry is about as easy as smashing an ice cube with a tooth pick – Often one breaks before the other meaning that more than often the person gives up before the industry gives them a chance. But lately things have been going well, I mean there was a time when I thought ‘hmm is this going anywhere?’ but decided to hold on a little longer and after 8 months of writing articles for my University newspaper online I started to get chances to write for published magazines around my University and some amateur fashion magazines and websites which is great! I’m slowly but surely building my portfolio and give it a year and I’ll be applying for a internship and hopefully getting one somewhere fingers crossed!

So that was my little insight into how my journey is currently going, hope you enjoyed 🙂 Follow/Like/Subscribe.

Who Says Maternity Wear Can’t Be Fashionable?

Okay I am not pregnant but I have noticed a lot of people explaining that they cannot find anything fashionable to wear whilst pregnant, however this is not true as there are many colourful and beautiful pieces out there for mothers to be to wear! I am writing this post for my sister in law in Japan who is expecting my to be niece or nephew! I know she likes to read my blog posts and has said she loves fashion as well so I thought I would write a special maternity post 🙂

Expecting a child is beautiful and you should feel beautiful too whilst you are expecting! If you love fashion then there is tons of options, such as the midi dress it comes in all shapes and sizes which is perfect because most retailers do special maternity midi dresses that still accentuate your bodies curves and are not to restrictive on your little baby bump. Also a great buy is loose fitting blouses and shirts which show elegance and beauty whilst still being comfortable.

As well as this tunics are often a good choice pick for mothers to be as they are flattering and come in a range of patterns and colours as well as being comfortable and easy to wear. When you’re expecting you want maximum comfort with a splash of fashion to make the perfect outfit if you love fashion and these two examples are great to go by! I personally would not wear high heels if you are quite heavily pregnant as I would swap them for comfy fashionable flat pumps or canvas shoes 🙂

Hope you all enjoyed this and to all expecting mothers to be congratulations! 🙂 Follow or subscribe!
