Skin Care Product Reviews – Freederm Sensitive Facial Wash & Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all having an excellent summer and are making the most of the little bit of sun we are having here in England! For my abroad readers, England is usually very rainy and cold but lately we have had such hot weather which is a lovely change!

I know I have not been blogging as much as I usually would and that’s because I have been rather busy and thus not had the time to blog as much but on the positive side that means I have more to blog about and reviews to post because it has been a while! yay 🙂

So I thought I would start with a skin care post about some items that I have recently brought and review the good and bad points of each of them. So lets start…

  1. Freederm Sensitive Facial Wash For Spot Prone Skin 150ml
So when I brought this face wash I had very high expectations because I have always heard such good things about the brand Freederm. So I chose this face wash as I was having a bit of a spot issue! The wash itself is quite nice, definitely not thick in consistence or weight in hand and it also smooths easily over your face which is great.
The face wash itself is pink and looks similar to the hair gel! This face wash is meant to control excess oil and also deeply cleanse pores, I think personally it does work quite well but it’s nothing much different from other facial washes sadly.
  2. Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash Skin Balancing Cleanser I actually got this face wash as a freebie with a magazine which I was happy about, it is a brand that is gaining more and more credibility so I was quite happy to get this freebie. The wash states for normal to combination skin and is 98.8% from natural origins which is great for the environment and very naturally healthy for your skin because there are more or less no chemicals or harmful substances in this face wash unlike many other brands. The actual ingredients of the face wash are spruce knot, rice bran oil, frankincense, ylang ylang and grapefruit which is quite a natural mixture of things.
When I tried the wash for the first time it felt quite creamy and personally I hated the smell of it! But I still use it, I believe it works nicely on my skin and just rejuvenates my skin that bit more.

Saturday Blogger Interviews – Blogger Kim Jobson

photo-3

Name: Kim Jobson

Location: London

Age: 23 years YOUNG haha

Blog link: http://www.kimjobson.tumblr.com

Twitter: @kimjobsonphoto,

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kim-Jobson-Photography/122768114450509

What three things do you blog about most:

I’m usually posting about my recent photo shoots: Showing behind the scenes images from the shoot, sneaky peaks from my editing or publishing shiny new edits. 🙂 I’m a pretty rubbish writer so it’s quite an image based blog which I like. I’m about to start doing weekly street style fashion based posts though so keep your eyes peeled for those! I love street style so I’m quite excited to start doing more of those 🙂

Name three words to describe your blog:

Photography, Fashion and Creativity.

When did you first start blogging:

I’ve had this blog for a while but never hugely got into it until last year where I started posting more and actually using it properly! I was quite lazy with posting so I ended up re-making it a million times haha.

Why did you begin to blog:

For me its a really useful tool to share my most recent images, I don’t always upload EVERY new image to my website, but it will most likely always make its way onto the blog. I quite liked the idea of sharing behind the scenes images too, which I think is always fun to see on shoots, which was one of the main reasons I started it.

What’s one blogging tip that you would share with other potential bloggers:

Quite an important one, don’t forget to post haha. I was terrible for that to begin with, infact I’m not amazing now but I’m getting better! It takes a lot of commitment to keep it going so think of ways which will help you to post more, like with my new street style weekly posts I think this will push me to post more because I’ll need to commit to it being a weekly thing.

Do you see yourself still blogging in three/five years time:

Oh of course, I’m hoping by then it will be a lot better and will be full to the brim of loads of amazing new images and I’ll be posting a lot more regularly. I have loads of new things I want to start shooting for the blog so it’s all progress in the making at the moment.

What’s one of the best things about being a blogger:

I never really see myself as a blogger, I’m just a photographer posting images, I like to think of it as an extended, more relaxed version of my website ha. But one of the best things is having somewhere to post ALL of my images, as obviously my website is only for my portfolio and I’ll only usually add 2/3 images from the same shoot on there, so its nice to be able to post the other images from a shoot that I love that probably wouldn’t get seen otherwise.

Has blogging helped you significantly in any other way:

The more I’ve started to use it I think its definitely helped give me a push with my photography. As all my posts are based on my photography, I realize when I haven’t posted in a while its because I haven’t made the time to do any more personal shoots, as I’m also an in-house fashion photographer for a fashion brand, I’m ALWAYS working so its easy to loose track of my personal work so it gives me that push to make some time and keep organizing fresh new shoots and making contacts.

Which Colour Nail Varnish Will You Wear This Summer?

Every lady and girl around the globe will know how hard it is to pick just one colour to paint their nails when deciding from a range of colours and styles, it can be hard and stressful to say the least! When I want to choose a nail polish to wear I spend ages eliminating the choices of colours and then spend even longer deciding whether or not I have made the right choice, sometimes it gets to the point where I put a shade on and decide it looks terrible and I should have gone for that beautiful pink rose shade instead of a dull shade of grey and I will take it all off and start again.

So this Summer with a range of new shades being released each week by high street retailers and stores, it’s going to be a tough decision but luckily I am here to help you decide with these top Summer picks!

White: White is a very versatile colour which can be wonderful as a nail varnish, it goes with all outfits and clothing choices and it can look amazing. It’s not really a usual choice when someone comes to paint their nails so this choice although different, will make a great statement and is a personal favourite of mine.

Peach: Peach is a very light and sweet hue that is perfect for Summer and will give you a warm Summer glow.

Blue: Such a vibrant colour and can come in a range of shades such as baby blue, kingfisher blue and cobalt blue. This colour is very strong and bright and will make a great addition to many Summer time outfits.

Red: Always a favourite! There is something risky but fun about wearing red nail varnish, it stands out and makes a statement and can look incredibly stylish and beautiful.

Pink: Whether it be baby pink, pastel pink, powder pink, peachy pink, dark pink…the list of shades are endless which always makes pink a great addition to any outfit!

With these colours in mind, I hope you enjoyed this article! 🙂

Blogger Interviews

As you may have seen I had an idea a couple of days ago to start picking my favourite blogs I read and contacting the bloggers to see whether they would enjoy a short but interesting interview to feature on my blog, I thought this was a good idea because it would be mutually beneficial to me and the blogger as well as quite fun!

So every Saturday I will be featuring 2 or 3 bloggers of my choice to engage in an interview with me which I will then post on my blog! This will be every Saturday unless I state before hand that I cannot. I think this is a good idea and so far I have met some wonderful bloggers who I think deserve to be showcased for their efforts and I hope you as my followers enjoy reading some of their answers! 🙂

If you feel like you might want to participate then feel free to message me (Via my email which can be found under the PR disclaimer page) or tweet me! 🙂

Enjoy!

What three things do you blog about most: I mostly blog about makeup, hair care + fashion.

Name three words to describe your blog: honest {a lie I cannot type!}; informative + real

When did you first start blogging: I first started blogging in 2010 but didn’t have even close to a clue
of what I was doing until over a year later. Even now I’m still learning
things!

Why did you begin to blog: I love sharing things with people; better + new ways of doing things
like eating healthy or going for a bold color even though your kind of
chicken. It kind of makes me feel like I’m cheering for anyone who needs
it, including me!

What’s one blogging tip that you would share with other potential bloggers: Don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone is different + that is a good thing.

Do you see yourself still blogging in three/five years time: Absolutely! When I stop learning then I’ll stop blogging 🙂

What’s one of the best things about being a blogger: I’ve always loved the freedom of expression in blogging. My personality
comes through in certain posts like I’m giving a friend that nudge they
need + I feel like I am.

Has blogging helped you significantly in any other way: Blogging has helped become more outgoing + open. Believe or not I
didn’t start wearing anything more than eyeliner + lip gloss until my
mid-twenties!

Just want to say a big thank you to Jessica for taking part! 🙂

New Weekly Blogger Interviews – Blogger Denise Earley

Image

Name: Denise Earley

Location: Galway, Ireland

Age: 27

Blog link: http://prettypetitepoppy.blogspot.ie

Twitter: @petite_denise

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/PrettyPetitePoppy/213792282051858

What three things do you blog about most: My blog is a mish mash of the things I love, but my most frequent posts are; outfit posts, beauty reviews of highstreet products and celeb style posts.

Name three words to describe your blog: Oh this is a hard one! Laid Back, Eclectic, Fun.

When did you first start blogging: I started blogging in 2011, but didn’t really blog for a lot of 2012 because I kind of lost my blogging mojo! I started again in February this year and I love it more than ever and feeling so inspired.

Why did you begin to blog: I stumbled across Lily Melrose’s blog (llymlrs.com) one day on the interweb and thought it was such a great way of showcasing your own personal style! I was looking for a new hobby at the time and decided I’d give it a go!

What’s one blogging tip that you would share with other potential bloggers: Be yourself and write about the things you love. Don’t feel pressure to be like other bloggers and write about/review the exact same stuff as them. If you write about the things that interest you, in your own way, people will take notice and appreciate it much more.

Do you see yourself still blogging in three/five years time: I’m a “take it a day at a time” kinda gal as you don’t know what’s around the corner. But I would like to think I’ll still be blogging in the future as it has become a big part of my life. I’m not sure I’d still be blogging about the exact same things in 5 years time, but who knows!

What’s one of the best things about being a blogger: Definitely the people you get to interact with! There are so many lovely people I’ve talked to that I would never have the opportunity to chat to if it wasn’t for blogging 🙂

Has blogging helped you significantly in any other way: It has made me challenge myself style wise and I’m not afraid to try new things. I put more thought into what I’m wearing now and how I style it. It’s helped me find bargain beauty products, thanks to all the amazing beauty bloggers out there. It has also put a significant dent in my bank balance 😉

I’d like to thank Denise for taking part and for her lovely answers! 🙂

Make Up Academy Nail Varnish In Plum Noir Mini Review

My sister gave me this nail polish a while back and at first I was skeptical because I am not a big fan of dark colours, so I left trying it on for a while however yesterday I painted my nails in this shade. Regretfully some of my nails chipped and broke after I had been growing them for so long so it resulted in me filing them down! 😦 So in the photo they look a little short apologies in advance! But anyway I was pleasantly pleased with this nail polish, it only required two coats for maximum shine and colour which is great because I hate nail polishes where I have to apply like 10 coats just to achieve my half desired look…

Adding to the wonderful features of this little pot is the fact it dries quickly! I don’t usually trust nail varnishes that do not state they dry quickly because I presume they’ll take forever, but even though this one doesn’t state it dries quickly it actually does! Miracle! 🙂 The brush makes easy application as well and it’s a handy hand bag size for when you need it in emergencies.

Overall this was an excellent cute nail varnish that surprised me to say the least and it will give you nails that look like they’ve just been freshly picked off the plum tree 😀 well worth a shot! 🙂

Garnier Skin Naturals Youthful Radiance Green Mint & Grape Anti-Oxidants Multi-Active Cleansing Gel Review

So the other day I was in the supermarket food shopping and I decided to take a detour down the make up and beauty aisle which is where I found this little beauty – Garnier Skin Naturals Youthful Radiance Mutli-Active Cleansing Gel in Green Mint and Grape Anti-Oxidents 200ml 🙂

I decided to buy it because it was so cheap and give it a go, admittedly I have lots of exfoliators and washes but I really wanted to give this a go as it seemed different to other face cleansers. I got home excited and happy to try out my new face cleansing gel and was pleasantly surprised by the results I got after using it, the cleansing gel itself smells amazing and its so smooth and clear making it an easy application to the face. This multi-active cleansing gel is meant to remove impurities, boost radiance and smooth out any facial lines that are unpleasant so I had high hopes, the cleansing itself is Green mint and Grape anti-oxidants so I thought this would be a nice treat for my face instead of the usual harsh exfoliators.
Overall I was pleased with the new cleansing gel that I got and it has a lot of advantages, making my face fresher and getting rid of extra impurities and make up that my make up wipes miss so I am very happy with this buy! 🙂

Liquid Eyeliner Vs. Pencil Eyeliner?

Make up – We all love it, hate it, wear it, try it, have loads of it or none of it! So I was taking a look through my make up bag and decided that I was going to do a post on the Pro’s and Con’s of both liquid eyeliner and pencil eyeliner because it seems people prefer one or the other! Hope you enjoy 🙂

LIQUID EYELINER

Pro’s:

  • Some people find it very easy to apply.
  • The brush is thinner making it very precise.
  • It stands out much more compared to pencil.
  • Liquid is sometimes easier to get off when your taking your make up off.
  • Tends to last longer compared to pencil eyeliner.

Con’s:

  • Others tend to find it much harder to apply thus making a mess over their eyelids and such.
  • It can sometimes run into your eye if you do it to close the the corners or if you do it wrong.
  • It can be hard to master ‘the flick’.
  • Smudges very easily especially if you do not let it dry completely.

PENCIL EYELINER

Pro’s:

  • Gives a more natural softer look.
  • Some make up lovers say it is easier to apply.
  • Lasts longer than other eyeliners with regards to shelf life.
  • Doesn’t dry out.

Con’s:

  • You have to sharpen the pencil every so often.
  • It can sometimes hurt during the application process on the eyelid if the pencil is too sharp or too blunt.
  • It wears off and does not last as long as liquid eyeliner.
  • Can be affected by heat and cause a smudging effect around the eyelids.

So I hope this helps somewhat for anyone looking for some advice about pencil or liquid eyeliner, at the end of the day it is narrowed down to personal preference and choice.
