Inspirational Note To All Those Who Have Aspirations & Ambitions

So I just wanted to write a little post dedicated to those people who have aspirations, ambitions or dreams and are aiming to succeed at something specific in life. I never realized how many people are so determined to get into a specific occupation when they are older or have strong ambitious dreams until I got a blog on here and I got twitter (Probably last person to ever get it) & followed fellow bloggers some of whom are aiming to become professional photographers, journalists, fashion stylists and designers and it has inspired me to write this post.

I myself have a very ambitious dream and those of you who follow my blog will know what it is – to become a fashion journalist/editor. I know that this is a very tough occupation to get into and most of the time it isn’t paid which is fine when you’re just gathering experience but not when you need a a full time paying job. Luckily I am at the point in my life when I am just gathering as much experience as possible, currently I did write for 5 magazines but sadly I had to relieve myself of two of those magazines as I had gained enough experience from them and also it was time to move on and give myself some relief. Now I write for 3 magazines and I am a fashion ambassador for Fashion156.com as well, I am trying hard to gather as much fashion and writing related experience now before I get older to give me the best chances.

Back to the original base of the message, I have met some wonderful people on Twitter and my blog that have strong dreams and I really believe they have potential, I see people with the same determination and ambitious nature as myself and I just wanted to write this post to say one thing: KEEP GOING. I see future wannabe stylists and designers and photographers with some amazing unseen work and potential on their blogs and I really hope they know how well they are doing!

Sometimes I get lethargic but then I remember I need to work hard if I want a decent life in the future, good job, great house and car and stable lifestyle and a happy marriage and I will continue to work for all of that 🙂 I wish all of you ambitious and head strong people good luck and to keep at your dreams until they come true or come close enough 🙂

Saturday Blogger Interviews – Blogger Kim Jobson

photo-3

Name: Kim Jobson

Location: London

Age: 23 years YOUNG haha

Twitter: @kimjobsonphoto,

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kim-Jobson-Photography/122768114450509

What three things do you blog about most:

I’m usually posting about my recent photo shoots: Showing behind the scenes images from the shoot, sneaky peaks from my editing or publishing shiny new edits. 🙂 I’m a pretty rubbish writer so it’s quite an image based blog which I like. I’m about to start doing weekly street style fashion based posts though so keep your eyes peeled for those! I love street style so I’m quite excited to start doing more of those 🙂

Name three words to describe your blog:

Photography, Fashion and Creativity.

When did you first start blogging:

I’ve had this blog for a while but never hugely got into it until last year where I started posting more and actually using it properly! I was quite lazy with posting so I ended up re-making it a million times haha.

Why did you begin to blog:

For me its a really useful tool to share my most recent images, I don’t always upload EVERY new image to my website, but it will most likely always make its way onto the blog. I quite liked the idea of sharing behind the scenes images too, which I think is always fun to see on shoots, which was one of the main reasons I started it.

What’s one blogging tip that you would share with other potential bloggers:

Quite an important one, don’t forget to post haha. I was terrible for that to begin with, infact I’m not amazing now but I’m getting better! It takes a lot of commitment to keep it going so think of ways which will help you to post more, like with my new street style weekly posts I think this will push me to post more because I’ll need to commit to it being a weekly thing.

Do you see yourself still blogging in three/five years time:

Oh of course, I’m hoping by then it will be a lot better and will be full to the brim of loads of amazing new images and I’ll be posting a lot more regularly. I have loads of new things I want to start shooting for the blog so it’s all progress in the making at the moment.

What’s one of the best things about being a blogger:

I never really see myself as a blogger, I’m just a photographer posting images, I like to think of it as an extended, more relaxed version of my website ha. But one of the best things is having somewhere to post ALL of my images, as obviously my website is only for my portfolio and I’ll only usually add 2/3 images from the same shoot on there, so its nice to be able to post the other images from a shoot that I love that probably wouldn’t get seen otherwise.

Has blogging helped you significantly in any other way:

The more I’ve started to use it I think its definitely helped give me a push with my photography. As all my posts are based on my photography, I realize when I haven’t posted in a while its because I haven’t made the time to do any more personal shoots, as I’m also an in-house fashion photographer for a fashion brand, I’m ALWAYS working so its easy to loose track of my personal work so it gives me that push to make some time and keep organizing fresh new shoots and making contacts.

Where Have I Been Hiding & Journey To Be A Fashion Journalist Updates!

ieiert  gregf

Hey Everyone!

So as you may have realized I haven’t been posting as much as I usually do and that’s because I have had quite a hectic but positive week! For those of you that follow my blog for updates on my journey to become a fashion journalist, well I have some little updates for you! Firstly I am now writing for another two new magazines who have a large readership so that’s quite exciting, not to mention one of the magazines is also American which is a great way for me to expand my experience in journalism and magazines globally.

So now I write for 4 magazines, some on a weekly basis and others on a monthly basis which is fine by me as I love writing and the flexibility fits in great with my life! So my fashion and journalism experience is adding up now so I made a mini list so you can see what I have accomplished this month:

  • Becoming a Fashion Ambassador for Fashion156.com
  • Writing for another British based magazine
  • Writing for an American based magazine
  • I have done my first ever model photo shoot in 1960’s and 1980’s vintage clothing
  • Completed lots of promotional exchanges with many online stores

Well moving on, I have finished my first year of University a week ago and traveled home for Summer break so I have been catching up with my family back in North London so I haven’t been posting much! But now I am starting to post more often, so bare with me guys! 🙂

I have been reading endless Vogue and ELLE magazines lately, I never use to buy them because they were quite pricey but now I am just starting to read them and I love the content. I also went into my local library and I found the March Issue of Vogue for 30p! So I brought that as it was a bargain.Image

Just Trade – Carved Tagua Nut Shark Necklace Review*

A little while ago I had asked Just Trade if they would consider doing a promotional exchange with me because I loved the items they had in their online store! Just Trade is an online shop that sells delicate fair trade and beautifully designed jewellery.

A couple of mornings ago I received a small parcel in the post which contained a beautiful black bag and inside the bag was a black box containing a Tagua carved nut in the shape of a shark. I was super thrilled as I love sharks and they are my favourite animal and not to mention I really love fair trade jewellery and items.

The whole experience with Just Trade was friendly and the posting of the item was super quick and was elegantly presented upon opening the parcel. The shark itself is so delicately carved and looks wonderful, such a beautiful piece of jewellery. As Just Trade’s online store states in the description of this amazing necklace it says that it was hand carved in Ecuador which is wonderful and I love the idea that the fair trade aspect of these items in their store are helping others globally.

This is a definite love!

Please check out Just Trades website and also their social sites!

Upstaged Vintage In Leeds Photo Shoot Pictures

So a while ago I did a review on a shop I really loved in Leeds called Upstaged Vintage, the shop has clothes from decades past and stocks some really unique and colourful items.
In return for my review on their shop the owner asked me if I would like to have some complimentary photo’s done as a thank you and also to go on their shop website, I of course agreed happily! So on Friday just before I came home I went and had them done, I chose three outfits and these were the pictures – very happy with them! 🙂

My Outfit Of The Day – First Day Back At Home

Today was my first day being back at home, I must admit it was super nice to wake up in my double bed in my house and feel at home! I haven’t been home for about 4 months now as I have been away at University in Leeds as you would’ve known if you’re a constant follower of mine! 🙂 I’ve missed being at home and missed seeing my family, but I thought to mark the occasion of me being back at home I will write a little post about my outfit of the day today!

Me and my parents went to town and just went to Costa to grab a coffee and catch up so today I wore:

  • My blue skinny jeans
  • My tan boots
  • My leather black jacket
  • A mustard dark brown fitted jumper with cute shoulder buttons!
  • My new handbag – which is beautiful 🙂

It was super sunny today so the picture is a little bright, but that’s my overall outfit of the day for a casual day out 🙂

Hope you all are having a lovely day!

The Frow – Black Leather With White Leather Sleeves Top Review*

So happily a while ago I asked ‘The Frow’ a pretty online upcoming clothing store to do a promotional exchange and I got a very happy email back saying they would love to, much to my excitement! The online store caught my attention because it had clothes which were different to other online shops, not just the generic stuff you get but they had some really beautiful and different pieces in different styles and I thought that was pretty awesome.

After I received the item in the post I excitedly unwrapped it and immediately tried it on, it fitted wonderfully and I was happy with the outcome. It fits just perfectly to accentuate my figure and the clash of black and white makes the top stand out! It goes great with jeans or leather leggings as well and would look amazing with some accessories like chunky bracelets or necklaces!

I would recommend checking out their online store here: http://www.thefrontrowonline.co.uk/
Make sure you check out their twitter page as well! https://twitter.com/TheFrow1

Once again a big thank you to ‘The Frow’ for this wonderful promotional exchange! 🙂

No More Exams, The End Of First Year At University, Model Pictures and New York Blogger Interview

So I have no more exams! I am officially free, no more exams, revision or coursework and it feels GREAT. Like everyone I get majorly stressed out when I have exams and coursework due or I need to revise and I end up getting pretty cranky which is never good, but yesterday was the last day for me to hand in coursework and now I officially start my Summer and it’s officially the end of my first year at university.

So what was my first year like? Well I learnt to cook for myself, learnt DIY like sewing and hand washing things, learnt to be independent and that’s pretty much it. It was fun, it went by so quickly seems like only the other week I was a innocent little fresher entering the big world of university being anxious and homesick. So I do not go back to university until September and then I will be starting my second year there, I will also no longer be staying in halls as I have my own apartment which is a little cosy cute place in the middle of this industrious city and it faces a big beautiful park! So I am looking forward to moving in there and being able to cook cakes and meals in my own kitchen.

First year I guess was pretty laid back I’d say, apparently second year gets much tougher. Anyway tomorrow I am going back home to North London and I am pretty excited/nervous as I haven’t been home since January! So hopefully there will be new content and more exciting things happening to blog about.

Well in other news I had some professional photo’s taken of myself yesterday as a thank you from Upstaged in Leeds for blogging about their beautiful vintage clothes. The photo’s hopefully will look wonderful and it was the first time I had ever had professional photo’s taken so I am excited to see the outcome which I will blog when I get them! Also I had a blogger interview with a fashion based company in New York called ‘The Fashion Potential’, about my blog and such would be wonderful if you could check it out here:  http://ht.ly/l8ubC

Anyway I hope you are all well! Thanks for following and such 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Saturday Blogger Interviews – Blogger Amyloo

Image

Name: Amyloo

Location: Oxfordshire (UK)

Age: 17 (Almost 18!)

Blog link: http://amyloosworld.blogspot.co.uk

Facebook/Twitter: https://www.facebook.com/AmyMaddisonFineArtist & https://twitter.com/AmyloosTweets

What three things do you blog about most: I mainly write about art, books and beauty. But I have many passions so I always make room for fashion, lifestyle and music related posts to. (I like to call it ‘The home of creativity’).

Name three words to describe your blog: Creative, inspirational and fun!

When did you first start blogging: I first started blogging just over a month ago (sometime in April) and I’m so glad I did!

Why did you begin to blog: You could say up until the point I first started blogging, my life hadn’t turned out quite how I’d envisioned. I needed a rather large distraction, a place where I could sit back, relax and be myself. As a child I was an incredibly enthusiastic writer, so I was a little shocked that blogging had never occurred to me before. On top of that I was also looking to build meaningful relationships with other bloggers (that’s you guys *cough* Mary *cough*). Overall though its my passions that formed ‘AmyloosWorld’.

What’s one blogging tip that you would share with other potential bloggers: I would say never ignore the other wonderful bloggers around you. We shouldn’t forget we’re all in the same boat here. Each and every one of us have something to share in the blogosphere, so just be selfless and help anybody in need of it (in any possible way that you can). You’ll meet some amazing people and maybe even build life-long friendships; in turn they’ll give you the love and support you need to make your blog a success. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Do you see yourself still blogging in three/five years time: (Is this a trick question?) OF COURSE! Writing comes naturally to me; I don’t think it will ever just disappear. I enjoy every second and want it to last forever! (Don’t you?).

What’s one of the best things about being a blogger: Doing what I love is extremely important to me; it keeps me excited and content (you have this duty that was never there before, and you want to fulfil it). On a more personal note, the best thing to happen so far to me as a blogger is meeting Mary and completing my first commission. I have to give her all the credit for interviewing me and promoting my work on her blog (cheers to Mary!). I also love the rush of happiness you get when someone new starts following. It’s heart-warming to know that people love reading what I write (a few years ago I would have laughed in my own face).

Has blogging helped you significantly in any other way: It’s helped me feel much more confident about my appearance and my sense of style. All of a sudden I’ve grasped who I really am (something I was previously unsure of). It’s certainly changed my life for the better. Even though I can’t predict the future, this journey of self-discovery is definitely worth the time spent.

Remember To Check Out My Facebook Blog Page!

Just a quick reminder, if you haven’t already it would be wonderful if you could like and share my Facebook blog page as it means a lot and the support is wonderful!

New content will be posted there as well! 🙂
